Chesapeake Fire Protection is looking for an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to create accurate, code-compliant, and constructible fire sprinkler and suppression system designs. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, engineers, architects, and field teams to bring projects from concept to installation.
๐ฏ What You’ll Do
Create fire sprinkler system layouts, hydraulic calculations, and material specifications.
Design systems for commercial, industrial, and multi-family projects.
Ensure designs meet NFPA standards, local codes, and project specifications.
Review construction drawings and coordinate with architects, engineers, and Project Managers.
Prepare shop drawings, design submittals, and permit packages.
Work with field teams to resolve constructability issues and design changes.
Maintain accurate design and revision documentation.
Participate in design reviews and quality control checks.
Stay current with fire protection codes, standards, and industry best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
โญ What You Bring
High school diploma; technical training or degree preferred.
2–5 years of fire sprinkler design experience.
Experience with commercial, industrial, or multi-family projects.
Strong knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, hydraulics, and NFPA standards.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or other fire protection design software.
NICET Level II or III in Fire Protection Engineering preferred.
Microsoft Office proficiency.

Primarily office-based with occasional job site visits.
Prolonged periods of computer and desk work.
Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs or ladders, bend, stoop, and navigate uneven surfaces.
Ability to lift 25–30 lbs.
Job site visits may include exposure to varying weather, dust, or noise.
Strong visual acuity required to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
