This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive primary care in a community health setting while working alongside a collaborative team of healthcare professionals.

The physician in this role will provide patient-centered medical care across the lifespan, support preventive health initiatives, and contribute to CVHS's mission of providing high-quality, accessible healthcare to the communities we serve.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, with a rotating on-call schedule.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

As a Physician at CVHS Buckingham, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive medical care to CVHS patients. Primary responsibilities include:

Examine, evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with a variety of primary care needs.
Obtain and review patient medical histories, records, diagnostic testing, laboratory results, and imaging as appropriate.
Develop and implement individualized treatment and follow-up plans.
Prescribe and/or dispense medications when clinically appropriate.
Perform minor procedures within the physician's training, experience, and scope of practice.
Refer patients to specialty, surgical, or other healthcare services when additional evaluation or treatment is necessary.
Collaborate and consult with other physicians and healthcare professionals regarding patient care.
Provide clinical guidance and medical supervision to assigned healthcare staff as appropriate.
Participate in peer review and review of clinical documentation when requested.
Promote preventive care through immunizations, screenings, disease detection, patient education, and other prevention initiatives.
Support a team-based, patient-centered medical home model and collaborate effectively with clinical and support staff.
Participate in CVHS quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation, coding, and billing functions within the electronic health record.
Follow CVHS privacy, confidentiality, safety, and electronic device security requirements.
Participate in committees and organizational activities relevant to the CVHS mission.
Maintain continuing professional education and clinical competency.
Participate in rotating after-hours, weekend, and holiday coverage with other providers, including telephone consultation and in-person care when clinically appropriate.
Maintain professional standards consistent with CVHS Bylaws, Principles of Practice, policies, and provider contractual requirements.
Perform other duties related to the position as assigned by the Clinical Director and/or Regional Medical Officer.

Education, Training and QualificationsThe successful candidate should demonstrate:

Education and Licensure

Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited medical school or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited school of osteopathic medicine.
Successful completion of a residency program in a primary care discipline, such as Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics.
Current or eligible for physician licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
