Operator – Med Tech Strander (3rd Shift)

Position Summary

The Operator – Med Tech Strander (3rd Shift) is responsible for the safe setup, operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of stranding equipment used in the manufacture of medical wire and cable products. This position ensures products meet customer specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements while maintaining productivity, equipment reliability, and workplace safety.

The Operator works in a controlled manufacturing environment and plays a key role in supporting continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining accurate production documentation, and producing high-quality products that meet customer expectations.

Essential Responsibilities

Machine Setup & Operation

• Set up, operate, and monitor Med Tech stranding equipment according to work orders, engineering drawings, specifications, and established work instructions.

• Verify machine settings, tooling, materials, and production parameters prior to beginning production.

• Perform first-piece verification and obtain required approvals before full production begins.

• Monitor equipment throughout production, making adjustments as necessary to maintain product quality and process efficiency.

• Troubleshoot machine and production issues and communicate equipment concerns to Supervision or Maintenance.

• Assist with prototype and first-article production when required.

Quality Assurance

• Inspect in-process and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications, dimensional requirements, and customer standards.

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices.

• Identify nonconforming materials and products, following established procedures for containment, documentation, and disposition.

• Minimize scrap through careful monitoring of production processes and timely machine adjustments.

• Follow all ISO, Quality Management System (QMS), and applicable work instructions.

Production & Documentation

• Accurately complete production records, quality documentation, work orders, inspection forms, tags, and electronic data entry.

• Maintain documentation that is accurate, legible, complete, and submitted in a timely manner.

• Ensure production materials, tooling, and completed jobs are properly identified and returned to designated locations.

• Maintain traceability of production records and product identification.

Equipment Care & Preventive Maintenance

• Perform routine equipment inspections before, during, and after production.

• Identify abnormal machine conditions and promptly notify Maintenance when repairs are required.

• Assist with preventive maintenance activities and maintain equipment cleanliness.

Safety & Housekeeping

• Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and required personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

• Maintain a clean, organized work area throughout each shift using established housekeeping and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) standards.

• Practice proper personal hygiene required for work in a controlled manufacturing environment.

• Report unsafe conditions, accidents, equipment malfunctions, or quality concerns immediately.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.

• Complete all required training and maintain proficiency on assigned equipment.

• Cross-train on additional equipment as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Manufacturing experience preferred; medical device or precision manufacturing experience is a plus.

• Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and manufacturing documentation.

• Basic computer skills, including data entry.

• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving decimals, percentages, and measurements.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
