Join our California labor and employment law practice where you will work closely with experienced attorneys, take an active role in sophisticated matters, and build trusted relationships with employer clients. This is an opportunity for an attorney who enjoys both litigation and practical counseling-and is ready to grow through meaningful responsibility.

What You'll Do

  • Own matters from start to finish. Manage employment litigation from inception through resolution, with support and collaboration from the team.
  • Build winning case strategies. Conduct investigations, assess claims, analyze the law, and develop practical recommendations for clients.
  • Write with impact. Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents.
  • Advocate for clients. Take and defend depositions and appear at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings.
  • Navigate agency matters. Represent employers before the DLSE, NLRB, and other state and federal agencies.
  • Be a trusted advisor. Counsel employers on employment-law compliance and day-to-day workplace issues.
  • Support labor relations. Assist with union negotiations, collective bargaining, and related matters.
  • Contribute beyond the case. Participate in client development, business development, and recruiting initiatives.

The Work

Your practice may include:

  • Discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims
  • Wage-and-hour litigation, including PAGA and class action matters
  • Single-plaintiff employment litigation
  • Labor relations and union matters
  • Employment counseling and compliance advice

What You Bring

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California
  • One to five years of labor and employment law experience, preferably involving California employment litigation
  • Strong knowledge of California labor and employment law
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, verbal communication, and advocacy skills
  • Sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • A collaborative approach and a strong commitment to client service
  • Commitment to maintaining all licensing and continuing legal education requirements necessary to practice in California

Even Better

  • Experience with class action and wage-and-hour litigation
  • Experience appearing before administrative agencies
  • Bilingual language skills

Role Details

  • Reports to the Sacramento Managing Partner
  • Professional office environment with regular use of a computer and standard office equipment
  • Regular attendance at client meetings, depositions, court appearances, mediations, and other legal proceedings
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically, and to review documents and screens for extended periods
