Director of Growth
About this role
About CareMessage
CareMessage is a social enterprise and the largest patient engagement platform for low-income populations in the United States. We deliver personalized health education and care coordination through text messaging — reaching patients where they already are, in the language they speak, at the moments that matter most. Unlike technology built for large health systems and adapted down, CareMessage is designed from the ground up for organizations serving low-income, historically marginalized communities.
Why Join Us in Leveraging Technology to Improve Health Equity
Many of us have had the experience of doing good work or building great products, but wondering if it is truly making an impact. At CareMessage, our mission is clear: improve health equity for low-income populations across the United States. Every role here connects directly to that purpose. We care deeply about the communities we serve, and we also hold a high standard for performance, collaboration, and integrity.
Our ideal team members:
Deliver meaningful, measurable results
Invest in their teammates and build trust
Seek feedback and continually grow
Stay steady and solutions-oriented in ambiguity
Lead with integrity and responsibility
Communicate with clarity and empathy
If you are motivated by impact, energized by collaboration, and ready to do some of the most meaningful work of your career, we encourage you to apply. If this sounds like you, we would love to meet you.
About the Role
CareMessage is hiring a Director of Growth to strengthen the operating layer that helps our Growth team scale revenue, reach, and patient impact through a coached, measurable, and market-aware Growth engine. The ideal candidate for this role is one that is not only motivated by driving ARR, but sees equal value in what sales translates into in terms of patient impact. This will be a player-coach role that needs to help the organization achieve revenue targets, whether through the people they oversee or their own work.
As a social enterprise and patient engagement platform designed for low-income, historically marginalized communities, CareMessage grows by helping safety-net organizations engage patients, increase access to care, improve clinical outcomes, and address social drivers of health. This role will translate that mission into a clearer Growth operating system across our current FQHC business, partnership-based market expansion of Tribal Health, and mission-aligned organization acquisition of Free & Charitable Clinics and Community-Based Organizations.
The Director of Growth will manage sellers and Growth Marketing, strengthen the sales engine, and connect demand generation, conferences, campaigns, referrals, partner signals, and outbound motions to sales-accepted qualified pipeline and revenue-generating conversations. This role will also help CareMessage build scalable pathways for growth in key regions like Texas, emerging markets like Tribal Health and rural networks, and impact-focused markets where acquiring and supporting mission-aligned organizations may matter even when ARR is not the primary measure of value.
What You Will Do
A. Own the outcomes that drive our growth
Own the managed Growth operating plan across our current FQHC business, Tribal Health and rural network expansion, and mission-aligned organization acquisition, including OKRs, KPIs, managed-team ARR attainment, qualified-pipeline goals, and patient-impact narrative.
Translate CareMessage’s multi-year growth strategy into quarterly execution priorities, with additional focus on key regions like Texas, seller productivity, Growth Marketing, and future capacity planning.
Use pipeline quality, seller performance, demand-source conversion, partner and network signals, and customer readiness to identify where Growth is on track and where intervention is needed.
Communicate outcomes, risks, tradeoffs, resource needs, and decisions to the Chief Growth Officer and leadership team through clear, data-driven updates that include Product, Customer Experience, Professional Services, Finance, RevOps, and Partnerships implications.
B. Lead, coach, and develop the people who drive growth
Manage assigned sellers and Growth Marketing with clear expectations, weekly coaching routines, feedback, and performance accountability for discovery, buyer mapping, demo quality, close planning, handoffs, and mission-connected execution, grounding the team in CareMessage’s values of accountability, resourcefulness, collaboration and empathy.
Develop team members through 1:1s, call reviews, deal reviews, onboarding checkpoints, ramp plans, territory plans, and role-specific growth plans focused on product storytelling, forecast discipline, and customer-centered execution.
Clarify what great looks like for each role by identifying strengths, performance gaps, coaching needs, and the support required to improve outcomes.
Help define the future Growth team structure, hiring profiles, and management systems needed to scale repeatable growth across revenue, demand generation, and mission-aligned organization acquisition.
C. Scale the growth engine across all markets
Own the new-business sales operating system for assigned market motions, including pipeline inspection, forecast discipline, deal review, HubSpot hygiene, and weekly execution rhythms.
Convert demand-generation activity, conferences, content, campaigns, website journeys, referrals, partner signals, and outbound motions into sales-accepted qualified pipeline, conference investment ROI, and closed ARR where ARR applies.
Strengthen repeatable FQHC growth motions, including a 2027 scale model for seller capacity, regional coverage, hiring profiles, ramp plans, and management systems required to reach our multi-year growth goals.
Translate readiness signals from Tribal Health, rural networks, partner-led opportunities, and mission-aligned organization acquisition into Growth team coverage, operating cadence, seller-capacity planning, and handoff plans.
What You Will Achieve
Within 30 days: Diagnose, align, and establish cadence
Diagnose the current-state view of team performance, pipeline quality, key-region coverage such as Texas, Growth Marketing assets, conference follow-up, and demand sources.
Establish the weekly 1:1, pipeline inspection, forecast review, deal coaching, and demand follow-up rhythms required to make the Growth engine inspectable.
Onboard with the CGO on 2026 priorities, hiring needs, managed team ARR expectations, sales-accepted qualified pipeline definitions, and 2027 seller-capacity decision points.
Within 60 days: Improve execution and make demand conversion measurable
Build product fluency to coach sellers on CareMessage’s core use cases, buyer value, and common objections.
Create role-specific top-account and territory plans, and understand measurable expectations for each seller and Growth Marketing contributor under your management.
Understand how conference, content, campaign, referral, and partner follow-up tie to target accounts, HubSpot hygiene, sales-accepted qualified pipeline, and clear next steps.
Make FQHC and key-region execution visible through stronger call quality, stage movement, close planning, forecast narrative, and leadership reporting.
Within 90 days: Build the scale plan
Build market fluency to connect FQHC growth, Tribal Health and rural network expansion, and mission-aligned organization acquisition to the right Growth motions.
Build and present a 2026 and 2027 hiring plan to the CGO.
Build and present a 2027 scale model covering sales execution, key-region priorities such as Texas, seller capacity, Growth Marketing, mission-aligned organization acquisition, and demand-generation gaps.
Implement a simple scorecard for managed team ARR attainment, sales-accepted qualified pipeline, conference follow-up conversion, seller ramp, and operating cadence health.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for this role may include:
Managed Growth outcomes, including new business ARR produced by the Growth team members and motions under this role’s direct management, as well as Impact Market new-logo acquisition and patient reach where ARR is not the primary measure of growth.
Sales-accepted qualified pipeline and pipeline coverage, including demand generated through Growth Marketing, conferences, campaigns, referrals, partner signals, website journeys, and outbound motions.
Growth engine conversion and operating health, including conference and campaign follow-up conversion, win rate, forecast accuracy, sales cycle movement, seller ramp, and pipeline hygiene.
What You Will Bring
8–12+ years of B2B Growth, Sales, Revenue, GTM, Demand Generation, or related commercial leadership experience, including 3+ years directly managing quota-carrying sellers or comparable revenue-generating team members, with increasing ownership for revenue, ARR, bookings, qualified pipeline, or growth targets, and demonstrated ability to coach performance, improve pipeline discipline, develop people, make resource tradeoffs, and operate through ambiguity.
2+ years of Growth Marketing, Demand Generation, Field Marketing, Revenue Marketing, or demand-to-pipeline experience, either through direct ownership of the work or management of the function, with experience converting conferences, campaigns, content, website journeys, referrals, partner signals, or outbound motions into qualified pipeline and revenue outcomes.
Demonstrated success selling to or managing teams that sell to resource-constrained, mission-driven, multi-stakeholder B2B buyers similar to community health centers, safety-net health systems, public-sector entities, or other complex organizations that require consultative, multi-stakeholder decision support.
Experience building or materially improving a sales operating system, including CRM hygiene, pipeline inspection, forecast discipline, territory focus, deal strategy, and executive reporting.
Deep alignment with CareMessage’s health-equity mission and commitment to growing revenue in ways that expand access, improve outcomes, and increase patient reach.
Location and Travel
This is a remote role within the United States. Regular travel is expected for prospect and customer meetings, conferences, field learning, team meetings, and strategic opportunities.
