Job Title: Student Maintenance Assistant

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Bowie State University

Compensation: $16.50 per hour (not to exceed 30 hours per week)

Contract Date: August 24, 2026 – May 21, 2026 

FLSA Status: Student Non-Exempt 


Summary

The Student Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting with following daily tasks.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Escorting vendors/contractors
  • Replacing air filters
  • Replacing batteries in electronic locks
  • Assist with maintaining organization and inventory of supplies in the Maintenance Shops and storage closets
  • Assist with the moving of all the furniture out of each apartment (stoves, beds, refrigerators, desk, sofa and chairs etc.)
  • Notify supervisor Respond and report situations needing attention.
  • Participate in training and administrative tasks.
  • Perform administrative duties in a thorough and timely manner
  • Attend all meetings and events as assigned. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High school diploma.
  • Current student at Bowie State University
  • Demonstrate proficiency in verbal communication.
  • Possess strong customer service skills.
  • Must have troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and navigate up and down stairs.
