Cocoa Maker (Temporary/Limited Term – Multiple Positions)

Overview of the Position:

Reporting to Cocoa Lead, Cocoa Servers work with a team to prepare, pour, and deliver hot cocoa to the train during THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride event running from November 13, 2026 – December 21, 2026. Cocoa Servers work closely with Foundation Staff to ensure timely delivery and quality of cocoa.

The reporting location is 930 Front Street. Complimentary daily parking is available.

Examples of Essential Duties:

• Use hot water heaters to heat up water.
• Properly time Cocoa pours to ensure proper cocoa temperature.
• Pour cocoa in cups and place in bins for delivery.
• Load bins onto cart.
• Drive cart to the train and unload cocoa onto each train car.
• Retrieve used bins and any extra cups from previous run.
• Properly clean bins and food preparation equipment and discard unused product.
• Adhere to local and State Food Safety Guidelines while handling cocoa.
• Support in-house Hospitality teams as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Certified by a Food Handler Program by the opening of THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride.

• Experience in food handling.
• Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
• Clear and crisp communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule Availability:

October – December 23, 2026. Nights and weekends required once the event begins.

Training and additional hours will begin in October. Most hours prior to the start of the event will be during a typical daytime schedule, while hours once the event begins will shift to afternoons and evenings.

Typical schedule:

• October – November 12: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm
• November 13 – December 21: Wednesday–Monday, 12pm–10pm (Tuesdays off after 11/13, except for 11/24), December 22–23: 9am–5pm (clean up days)

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to walk for extended periods.
• Ability to work outside in hot and cold conditions.
• Ability to lift 30lbs repeatedly.
• Ability to climb on and off railroad equipment.

Compensation:

These temporary positions are budgeted for up to 40 hours per week with an hourly wage of $25/hour. Free parking & dinner are provided. This position is overtime eligible.
