Position Summary

C2O Americas is seeking an experienced Lead DCS Operator to support the commissioning, startup, and operational readiness of a world-class LNG export facility in Southeast Texas. This position will provide leadership in the control room by monitoring and optimizing plant operations through the Distributed Control System (DCS), ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient performance of LNG process systems.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience with LNG, natural gas processing, petrochemical, refinery, or power generation facilities and possess strong knowledge of process control, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and plant operations. This role will work closely with Operations, Commissioning, Engineering, Instrumentation, Maintenance, and Construction teams to support system turnover and plant startup activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead control room operations during pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, shutdown, and normal plant operations.
  • Monitor and control LNG process systems through the Distributed Control System (DCS).
  • Coordinate with commissioning, operations, maintenance, engineering, and construction teams to ensure safe and efficient startup activities.
  • Perform functional testing, loop checks, cause-and-effect testing, and control logic validation.
  • Troubleshoot process upsets, alarms, interlocks, instrumentation, and control system issues.
  • Support system walkdowns, punch list resolution, and turnover to operations.
  • Review P&IDs, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), control narratives, operating procedures, and cause-and-effect matrices.
  • Monitor process performance and recommend operational improvements to maximize plant efficiency and reliability.
  • Verify proper operation of compressors, pumps, turbines, cryogenic equipment, utilities, and process systems.
  • Support Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Emergency Shutdown (ESD), and Fire & Gas (F&G) testing and validation.
  • Prepare shift reports, startup documentation, and operational logs.
  • Mentor and train DCS Operators while promoting safe operating practices.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and all environmental and safety requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Process Technology, Engineering Technology, Instrumentation, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience operating Distributed Control Systems (DCS) within LNG, petrochemical, refinery, natural gas processing, power generation, or other heavy industrial facilities.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership or senior operator experience in a control room environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting commissioning, startup, and plant operations.
  • Strong understanding of industrial process control systems and plant operating procedures.

Technical Skills

  • Distributed Control Systems (DCS) operation and troubleshooting (Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion, Yokogawa, ABB, Siemens, Bailey, or similar)
  • Commissioning, startup, shutdown, and plant system optimization
  • Functional testing, loop checks, cause-and-effect testing, and control logic validation
  • Instrumentation, process control, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Emergency Shutdown (ESD), and Fire & Gas (F&G) systems
  • Process performance analysis, alarm management, root cause analysis, and operator training

Preferred Experience

  • 10+ years operating DCS systems in LNG, petrochemical, refinery, natural gas processing, or power generation facilities
  • Experience supporting pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and plant turnover activities
  • Demonstrated leadership supervising control room operations and mentoring DCS operators
  • Experience troubleshooting complex process systems including compressors, turbines, pumps, cryogenic, and utility systems
  • Proficient in reviewing P&IDs, control narratives, cause-and-effect matrices, operating procedures, and process documentation

Preferred Certifications

  • TWIC Card - Required
  • OSHA 30
  • Process Technology Certification
  • LNG Operations or Industrial Process Operations certification
  • DCS platform training or manufacturer certification (Emerson, Honeywell, ABB, Siemens, Yokogawa, or equivalent)
