C10 Labs was selected by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) to help operate AI Nexus NYC, a citywide initiative designed to accelerate AI innovation, company creation, and adoption across New York City’s economy.
Through the AI Nexus NYC venture studio, C10 brings together founders, startups, industry partners, investors, researchers, mentors, and technical experts to build and deploy applied AI solutions addressing real-world challenges.
The platform supports founders through venture creation, company-building programs, industry partnerships, pilot opportunities, mentorship, technical resources, and access to capital. The goal is to help founders move from promising ideas and emerging technologies to validated, scalable, and venture-backed companies while strengthening New York City’s applied AI ecosystem.
Position Summary
AI Nexus NYC is seeking experienced mentors to advise founders building artificial intelligence solutions across healthcare, biotechnology, therapeutics, diagnostics, life sciences, and related fields.
Mentors will provide practical guidance on company formation, product strategy, technical development, regulatory considerations, customer discovery, commercialization, fundraising, and organizational growth. This is an opportunity to help promising founders translate technical and scientific innovation into scalable companies.
Responsibilities
• Advise participating founders through individual and group mentoring sessions.
• Help teams refine their business models, product strategies, and commercialization plans.
• Provide guidance on healthcare and biotechnology markets, workflows, stakeholders, and purchasing processes.
• Support founders in evaluating technical feasibility, scientific validation, data strategy, and responsible AI practices.
• Offer insight into regulatory, clinical, privacy, reimbursement, and quality considerations when relevant.
• Help founders prepare for customer conversations, strategic partnerships, fundraising, and investor diligence.
• Make relevant introductions across healthcare, biotechnology, academia, industry, and venture capital when appropriate.
• Participate in program events, workshops, office hours, and company reviews.
• Provide candid, constructive, and actionable feedback.
• Help teams refine their business models, product strategies, and commercialization plans.
• Provide guidance on healthcare and biotechnology markets, workflows, stakeholders, and purchasing processes.
• Support founders in evaluating technical feasibility, scientific validation, data strategy, and responsible AI practices.

Qualifications
• Significant leadership or operating experience in healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics, health technology, life sciences, or a related field.
• Experience as a founder, executive, investor, researcher, clinician, product leader, or technical leader.
• Strong understanding of how AI is being applied within healthcare or the life sciences.
• Experience advising, mentoring, investing in, or supporting early-stage companies.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to provide practical guidance while allowing founders to retain ownership of decisions.
• Commitment to responsible innovation and the appropriate use of sensitive health and biological data.
• Experience as a founder, executive, investor, researcher, clinician, product leader, or technical leader.
• Strong understanding of how AI is being applied within healthcare or the life sciences.
• Experience advising, mentoring, investing in, or supporting early-stage companies.

Preferred Experience
• Experience with clinical development, regulatory strategy, reimbursement, healthcare procurement, or biopharmaceutical commercialization.
• Familiarity with machine learning, computational biology, drug discovery, digital health, medical imaging, clinical workflows, or healthcare data.
• An established network across New York’s healthcare, scientific, investment, or startup ecosystem.

This is a part-time mentor appointment. Time commitments will vary based on program needs and mentor availability. Mentors may participate through scheduled office hours, workshops, company reviews, and individual advisory sessions.
