Position Summary

The purpose of the Sr. Manager of Supply Chain COE is to lead Buckman Chemicals’ North America Supply Chain Center of Excellence as an enterprise operating-system owner for end-to-end process governance, capability development, SAP-enabled ways of working, master data management, analytics, and control discipline. This role establishes enforceable standards and transformation roadmaps that shape how supply chain work is designed, executed, measured, audited, and improved across sites, functions, manufacturing locations, warehouses, tollers, and supply chain partners.

The role exists to deliver measurable business outcomes in service reliability, inventory accuracy, working capital, logistics cost, cost-to-serve, planning adherence, manufacturing execution, productivity, compliance, and audit readiness. It influences multi-million-dollar operational and financial outcomes by aligning processes, data, systems, controls, and behaviors across Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, Return, and Enable processes, while preparing executive-level recommendations for Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, IT, and senior leadership governance forums.

Core Purpose

  • Govern End-to-End Supply Chain Processes: Own, approve, enforce, and audit process standards, decision rights, role-based job scripts, controls, and continuous improvement roadmaps across E2E supply chain workflows.
  • Build Supply Chain Capability: Develop training, role-based learning paths, certification readiness, and sustainment routines aligned with APICS/ASCM, SCOR, Gartner, and other recognized professional standards.
  • Strengthen SAP and Systems Discipline: Translate business processes into clear SAP transaction guidance, job scripts, controls, data requirements, and adoption standards for each Buckman Operations role.
  • Govern Master Data and Analytics: Establish data ownership, quality standards, dashboards, KPI definitions, and analytics routines that provide trusted information for planning, logistics, inventory, procurement, tolling, and manufacturing decisions.

Ensure Audit Readiness and Operational Control: Provide central governance over annual inventory auditing processes and related SAP controls to ensure compliance, accuracy, and repeatable execution.

Key Outcomes/Responsibilities

Outcome: A governed, documented, enforceable, and continuously improved E2E Supply Chain operating model that improves service reliability, inventory accuracy, working capital, logistics cost, planning adherence, productivity, and compliance across North America.
Actions:

  • Define and maintain standard process architecture, ownership, handoffs, controls, and performance expectations across Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, Return, and Enable processes.
  • Lead governance routines that prioritize process issues, approve standards, remove conflicting practices, and convert recurring problems into improvement projects.
  • Use APICS/ASCM, SCOR, Gartner, Lean, and continuous improvement practices to benchmark current ways of working and close capability or process maturity gaps.

Outcome: Role-based SAP job scripts and systems guidance are complete, current, adopted, and embedded into daily Supply Chain and Operations work.
Actions:

  • Own the central library of SAP job scripts, transaction guides, role-based process maps, and work instructions required for each Buckman Operations role to perform its job.
  • Partner with IT, process owners, and functional leaders to ensure job scripts reflect approved business processes, system configuration, compliance controls, and data requirements.
  • Establish review cycles, version control, change impact assessments, and training triggers whenever SAP, master data, or business process changes occur.

Outcome: A skilled Supply Chain organization with sustained APICS-level capability and consistent application of standard work.
Actions:

  • Design role-based training curricula, certification pathways, onboarding plans, refresher cycles, and practical competency checks for supply chain and operations users.
  • Maintain training content for business processes, SAP transactions, master data standards, inventory controls, analytics tools, and daily management routines.
  • Track adoption and proficiency through training completion, observed use of standard work, audit results, KPI improvements, and targeted remediation plans.

Outcome: Trusted master data and analytics that enable accurate planning, execution, reporting, and decision-making across the Supply Chain organization.
Actions:

  • Govern master data standards, ownership, quality thresholds, creation/change workflows, and issue resolution across material, customer, vendor, location, inventory, and planning data domains.
  • Establish KPI definitions, data lineage, dashboard requirements, and analytics routines for service, inventory, planning adherence, logistics, tolling, and cost-to-serve visibility.
  • Lead data quality reviews and root-cause corrective actions when data defects create service misses, inventory errors, planning noise, excess work, or compliance risk.

Outcome: Annual audit processes, inventory controls, and data governance routines are centrally governed, repeatable, compliant, and used to reduce operational risk while improving inventory accuracy and control discipline.
Actions:

  • Own the annual inventory audit governance framework, including audit calendar, process controls, role responsibilities, evidence standards, reconciliation expectations, and escalation paths.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Warehousing, Procurement, and IT to ensure physical inventory, cycle count, tolling inventory, and system inventory controls are aligned.
  • Translate audit findings into corrective actions, standard work updates, training refreshers, SAP control improvements, and data quality remediation plans.

Outcome: A high-performing COE team and extended network of process owners, site champions, super users, and functional SMEs that lead governance, transformation, analytics, and enablement work with credibility across the organization.
Actions:

  • Manage, coach, and prioritize the work of the COE team covering business process development and governance, training, master data management, and supply chain analytics.
  • Build annual and multi-year transformation roadmaps, project charters, benefits cases, milestones, adoption plans, and executive updates for continuous improvement and governance initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted translator between Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, IT, and Commercial teams to convert business needs into practical, governed, SAP-enabled work processes.
