Boley Centers, Inc., a nationally recognized and accredited behavioral health care agency, has an opening for a full-time HUD Accountant to handle the month end close procedures including recording journal entries, reconciling and maintaining fixed assets, balancing accounts payable and accounts receivables, reconciling bank accounts, preparing reconciliation workpapers, assisting in audits and preparing monthly financial statements over the HUD 811 entities (15).

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Record month end journal entries to the general ledger in Cornerstone software.
  • Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts including cash accounts, tenant accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaied accounts, fixed assets, accrued liabilities and inter-company accounts.
  • Record and ensure accuracy of monthly inter-company invoicing.
  • Prepare annual PRAC renewals; including HUD rent increase requests and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain and control fixed assets for assigned 811 housing entities.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets for housing programs and properties.
  • Prepare audit schedules, year-end confirmation letters and assist external auditors during annual audits.
  • Assist with reviewing payroll allocations related to housing programs and completing year-end reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with HUD regulations, grant requirements and internal accounting controls.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Education must be from an accredited school, college, or university.
  • Excel or other advanced spreadsheet experience required.
  • At least three years of accounting experience, preferably including HUD or affordable housing accounting. Experience with government-funded programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of HUD regulations, PRAC requirements, housing accounting practices, general ledger systems, spreadsheet applications and standard accounting principles preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

May require occasional interaction with HUD representatives, housing partners, auditors and regulatory agencies.

Must pass a Level 2 background check and drug screen.
