As a Deposit Operations ACH Specialist, you will serve as a primary operational resource for Automated Clearing House (ACH) processing and exception resolution while supporting critical Deposit Operations functions. This role is responsible for processing ACH returns and corrections, resolving exceptions, handling ACH-related research and troubleshooting, supporting fraud prevention efforts, and ensuring compliance with ACH rules, banking regulations, and Bank policies and procedures. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, organizational skills, and a commitment to operational excellence.

What You'll Do
- Process ACH returns and corrections accurately and within required processing timelines
- Review incoming ACH returns and complete necessary account adjustments, notifications, and follow-up actions
- Research and resolve non-posted ACH items, account discrepancies, invalid transaction information, and other posting exceptions
- Prepare, review, and distribute ACH notices, including Notifications of Change and other ACH-related communications
- Research ACH inquiries and provide troubleshooting support to Deposit Operations, Treasury Management, branch personnel, and other internal teams
- Identify ACH exceptions, discrepancies, and potential risk concerns and assist with timely resolution
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation related to ACH processing, corrections, notices, and exception resolution
- Monitor ACH processing reports and activity to ensure timely completion of daily responsibilities
- Assist with ACH file processing, settlement research, balancing activities, and posting investigations as assigned
- Recognize and report potential fraud, phishing attempts, scams, suspicious activity, and other ACH-related red flags
- Perform daily review, balancing, and reconciliation of assigned Deposit Operations reports
- Monitor and address assigned non-post items, stop payments, positive pay exceptions, NSF items, and other operational exceptions
- Process foreign collections, international transactions, chargebacks, and assigned settlements
- Review and process positive pay exceptions related to X9 files and ACH alerts
- Complete quality control reviews for new accounts, file maintenance, and account maintenance activities
- Review and process mobile deposits and assist with approval of non-over-the-counter deposits, including ATM deposits
- Collaborate closely with Treasury Management, Fraud, Regulation E, Retail, and other Bank teams to support operational and customer needs
- Report discrepancies promptly and assist with clearing or resolving identified exceptions
- Remain current on ACH rules, banking regulations, Bank policies, procedures, and required training
- Provide backup support for other Deposit Operations Specialists and assist with departmental responsibilities as needed
- Travel between branch locations when necessary
- Perform additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned by management
Requirements
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: One to three years of related banking or financial services experience required; ACH operations experience preferred.
- Preferred Certifications: Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification preferred. If not currently certified, must be willing to begin certification within one year and successfully obtain the designation.
- Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, qualifying motor vehicle record report, and reliable transportation
- Working knowledge of ACH processing, including returns, corrections, Notifications of Change, non-posted items, and transaction research
- Knowledge and understanding of banking operations, industry practices, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Strong understanding of ACH rules, electronic payments, exception processing, and operational controls
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate ACH-related issues clearly and professionally
- Strong analytical, research, reconciliation, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to accurately calculate figures, balances, and financial transactions common within the banking industry
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling confidential information
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
