Position Overview

We're seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a staff-augmentation team supporting a fast-moving SaaS data platform working through a significant post-acquisition data backlog. You'll combine strong technical expertise with ownership and sound engineering judgment — designing and building scalable, reliable pipelines on a modern Snowflake/dbt/Airflow stack while understanding the broader business objectives behind them. This is a high-visibility seat: you'll be evaluated directly against incumbent contractor performance in your first 60 days, with strong, self-directed delivery translating into a long-term dedicated placement.

Responsibilities

  • Own complex technical projects end-to-end with minimal direction, from design through production

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ELT pipelines in dbt against a Snowflake warehouse, including query and warehouse performance tuning

  • Build and maintain orchestration workflows in Apache Airflow

  • Apply dimensional modeling, data warehousing, and analytics engineering best practices to support reliable downstream reporting

  • Prepare and model data for consumption in modern BI tools, primarily Sigma, with some exposure to Tableau for embedded, customer-facing reporting

  • Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and platform modernization

  • Mentor other engineers through code review and technical guidance, raising the technical bar of the broader team

  • Proactively flag risks and performance issues, and help shape the platform's forward-looking AI/ML data capabilities

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional data engineering experience, with a demonstrated track record of owning complex projects under minimal direction

  • Hands-on proficiency with Snowflake, including performance tuning and modern Snowflake capabilities — the core stack on this engagement

  • Strong dbt experience building and maintaining production ELT pipelines

  • Experience with Apache Airflow or a comparable orchestration platform

  • Strong Python skills

  • Solid grounding in dimensional modeling, data warehousing, and analytics engineering best practices

  • Comfort working in modern reporting/visualization tools such as Sigma, Tableau, or Power BI

  • Track record of designing scalable, maintainable, well-documented pipelines and models

  • Demonstrated mentorship experience — comfortable reviewing code and raising the technical bar for less senior engineers

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • Snowflake Cortex experience and/or Snowflake AI certification — currently the single highest-leverage differentiator for this role; flag prominently on any candidate who has it

  • Sigma experience (not required — low barrier to entry for a strong engineer, but a plus)

  • Tableau experience, particularly for embedded/customer-facing reporting

  • Prior experience in a post-acquisition or carve-out data environment

Benefits:
  • Fully remote

  • Flexible Schedule

  • Unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO)

  • Paid parental/bereavement leave

  • Worldwide recognized clients to build skills for an excellent resume

  • Top-notch team to learn and grow with

Background checks may be required for certain positions/projects.
