About the position

Based in Rome, Italy and under the direct supervision of the Global Treasury Manager, Assistant I - Treasury provides operational support to the Treasury HQ team, across support in the payment processing, accounts payable and registration of cash entries, bank account maintenance, and treasury reporting. The role ensures the accurate and timely recording, and reconciliation of payment transactions in OCS and Agresso, supporting multi-currency disbursement processing across StoneX, BPER, and HSBC platforms, and maintaining up-to-date banking records and documentation to support the Unit's cash planning, reporting, and audit requirements. The position also serves as backup for the Corporate Credit Card process to ensure business continuity and provides day-to-day support to Treasury Analysts and internal stakeholders on payment-related queries.

Key duties and responsibilities 

  • Support in the accurate and timely review of payment requests, including calculation of disbursement totals by currency for cash planning.
  • Support in the complete and error-free recording of payment transactions in OCS/Agresso, including Post to GL processing and timely notification of rejected payments to internal stakeholders.
  • Support in maintaining up-to-date bank code registrations in Agresso and providing reliable banking-details assistance to requesting units.
  • Support in keeping AP and AR spreadsheets accurate and current, including TT insertions and verification of pay recipient data for multi-currency payments (StoneX, BPER, HSBC).
  • Support in the processing of manual StoneX payments, including bank statement verification and direct debit registration.
  • Support in the timely handling of payment reversals and returns, including reversal of GL transactions and notification to Accounting.
  • Support in preparing the weekly LOA payment report for GMU, and downloading/saving bank receipts for LOA payments, monthly bank statements and extracts for Accounting, BPER, HSBC, and BofA.
  • Support in maintaining an organized folder with supporting documentation for bank reconciliations.
  • Support as backup coverage for the Corporate Credit Card process, assisting with timely submission of credit card forms via MiVision HSBC.
  • Support in responding to internal queries, assisting Treasury Analysts, and contributing to audit requests as needed.
  • Undertake other related tasks as required.


Requirements

Required qualifications and experience  

  • Secondary/High School Diploma or equivalent, supplemented by related courses in Treasury, Accounting, Financial Operations or related fields.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in treasury, accounts payable/receivable, banking operations, or general accounting support, preferably within an international or multi-currency environment.
  • Experience recording and reconciling financial transactions in an ERP system (e.g., Agresso) is required.
  • Prior exposure to online banking platforms and multi-currency payment processing is desirable.
  • Experience working in a multicultural, remote, or internationally distributed team is an asset.

Required competencies

  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with online banking.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and payment processing controls.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling multi-currency financial data.
  • Familiarity with document management and recordkeeping practices.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook) for internal communication and reporting.
  • Fluency in English and Italian is required (written and spoken).
  • Working knowledge of Spanish is an asset.
  • Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple recurring tasks and deadlines accurately.
  • Discretion and integrity in handling sensitive financial and banking information.
  • Proactive attitude in flagging discrepancies, errors, or non-compliance issues for timely resolution.
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to provide backup support across the Unit as needed.

Terms of employment

This position is a nationally recruited staff position based in Rome, Italy open to internal candidates, namely: regular staff members, complementary staff members and individuals who are currently employed or have completed a contract with Bioversity in the last 6 months. The initial contract will be for up to one (1) year, subject to a probation period of six (6) months, and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources. This position is graded at BG04 level, with a minimum annual basic salary of Euro 35,790 in a scale of BG02 to BG14 (BG14 being the highest level according to the Alliance job classification framework policy).
