About this role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to support and maintain our organization's data platforms and database environments. This role is ideal for a professional with hands-on database administration experience who is interested in expanding their skills in data engineering, automation, and data integration.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring database reliability, performance, security, and availability while assisting with data pipelines, ETL processes, and data quality initiatives. This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow technical expertise across both database operations and modern data platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Monitor, maintain, and optimize SQL Server and other database environments.
  • Perform database backups, recovery testing, and disaster recovery support.
  • Troubleshoot database performance issues and implement optimization strategies.
  • Manage database security, access controls, and user permissions.
  • Support database patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure data integrity, availability, and system reliability.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining ETL/ELT processes.
  • Support data integration efforts between business applications and data platforms.
  • Create and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data transformations.
  • Coordinate data and database-related projects by helping define scope, track milestones, manage timelines, communicate status updates, and escalate risks or dependencies as needed.
  • Assist with data cleansing, validation, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with analytics and reporting teams to deliver reliable datasets.
  • Document database configurations, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Work with application owners, developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to support data-related needs.
  • Participate in incident response and root-cause analysis activities.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience in Database Administration, Data Engineering, or a closely related role.
  • Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments
  • Strong SQL development and query optimization skills.
  • Understanding of database backup, recovery, maintenance, and security principles.
  • Experience with ETL tools or data integration processes.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and relational database design.
  • Familiarity with scripting or automation using PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to coordinate cross-functional initiatives, manage project timelines, prioritize deliverables, identify risks and dependencies, and keep stakeholders informed of progress.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, or similar technologies.
  • Exposure to data modeling and dimensional design concepts.
  • Experience supporting business intelligence solutions such as Power BI.
  • Familiarity with source control and DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools and database performance tuning methodologies.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure, SQL Server, Data Engineering, Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), PMI-ACP, or other related technical and project management certifications are a plus.
