Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) proudly stands as the largest expanded learning provider in San Mateo County, dedicated to empowering 7,000 TK-College students across 31 sites from East Palo Alto to Daly City. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Food Service Support Staff at BGCP supports the daily operations of the kitchen by assisting in meal preparation, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and ensuring all food is prepared in compliance with health and safety regulations. This role reports to the Head Chef and contributes to providing nutritious meals for club members and staff.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals following established menus and dietary guidelines.
  • Ensure all food is properly stored, labeled, and maintained at appropriate temperatures.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, including washing dishes, sweeping, and mopping floors.
  • Assist in receiving and organizing food deliveries and inventory management.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations to ensure compliance with health standards.
  • Support the Head Chef in developing meal plans that cater to club members' dietary needs.
  • Help coordinate food service during meal times, ensuring timely and efficient distribution.
  • Engage positively with club members and staff, fostering a welcoming dining environment.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in food service, catering, or restaurant environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions accurately.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Passion for serving youth and commitment to BGCP’s mission.
  • Food Handler’s certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: continuously lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; and some stooping, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, crouching, squatting, and/or crawling. The role may involve lifting up to 50 pounds at once and continuously lifting or carrying objects up to 25 pounds. The position requires the ability to work both indoors and outdoors. Generally, the job requires approximately 20% sitting and 80% walking or standing. The work environment noise level is typically moderate but may occasionally be louder. All requirements are subject to reasonable accommodations.

Monday - Friday: 2:00 pm - 7:30pm 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Employment Status: Part-Time
  • Pay Range: $20-$25 per hour, depending on experience (DOE)
  • Retirement Benefits: You will be able to participate in our 401(k) retirement plan after ninety days of employment
  • Sick Time: Part-time employees accrue sick time at a rate of 1 hour for every 20 hours worked, and may use up to 40 hours per year

As part of the hiring process, BGCP requires candidates to complete a LiveScan fingerprinting, background check, and tuberculosis (TB) evaluation or test.
