Location: Cincinnati, OH (Bond Hill)
Schedule: Second Shift
Reports To: Shelter Operations Director
Bethany House Services is a large residential family shelter committed to resident-centered, trauma-informed service delivery. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to support the Shelter Director with daily operations, coach and train staff, ensure compliance and quality, and strengthen resident outcomes across all shifts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operations Support
- Support the daily operations of the shelter and assist in maintaining consistent service delivery across all shifts.
- Serve as a resource and operational support to Shelter Leads and Shelter Assistants.
- Assist with the implementation and monitoring of shelter policies, procedures, and SOPs.
- Identify operational challenges and recommend solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support leadership coverage as needed during emergencies or staffing shortages.
Staff Coaching and Training
- Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and support to Shelter Leads and Shelter Assistants.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new employees.
- Conduct refresher trainings and skill-building opportunities for staff.
- Monitor adherence to shelter policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Identify training needs and communicate recommendations to the Shelter Operations Director.
- Model professional conduct, trauma-informed care, and resident-centered service delivery.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Review shelter practices to ensure compliance with agency policies and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor consistency in staff performance and provide coaching when opportunities for improvement are identified.
- Assist in developing and updating SOPs, forms, and operational guidelines.
- Track operational trends and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
Resident Services Support
- Assist staff in addressing resident concerns, conflicts, and crisis situations.
- Support Shelter Assistants in implementing resident accountability measures and policy enforcement.
- Promote trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches when working with residents.
- Collaborate with Case Management, Housing Specialists, and other departments to support positive resident outcomes.
Safety and Incident Management
- Support staff in responding to emergencies, behavioral incidents, and crisis situations.
- Review incident reports for completeness and accuracy.
- Assist in identifying safety risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure emergency procedures and safety protocols are consistently followed.
Communication and Collaboration
- Facilitate communication between departments and shifts to promote continuity of operations.
- Support organizational initiatives and special projects.
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in shelter operations, residential services, social services, or a related field.
- Previous leadership, lead worker, training, or coaching experience preferred.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred.
- Ability to work 2nd shift.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong ability to coach, mentor, and develop staff.
- Knowledge of shelter operations, trauma-informed care, and crisis intervention.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to assess operational needs and implement improvements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of HMIS/Clarity systems preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
