In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.

  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).

  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.

  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.

  • Federal Work Study student may apply.

  • In good disciplinary standing.

  • Must be located in the U.S.

The Center for Innovation and Impact (CII) Student Assistant supports the continued development and growth of the Center’s programs, initiatives, communications, and operations. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the student employee will assist with program development, research, communications and online presence, event support, resource development, and special projects that help expand the Center’s reach and impact across the Berklee community.

This position is well suited for a reliable, organized, creative, and entrepreneurial student who is interested in innovation, entrepreneurship, the creative industries, and building new programs and initiatives. Because the Center is continuing to develop its programming and presence, the Student Assistant will have an opportunity to contribute ideas, conduct research, and help shape projects as they evolve.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Development & Research

  • Support the Managing Director in researching, developing, and organizing new programs, events, workshops, resources, and initiatives for the Center.

  • Research trends, organizations, programs, companies, educational models, and emerging practices related to innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, and the creative industries.

  • Conduct benchmarking research on innovation and entrepreneurship centers, academic programs, accelerators, incubators, and other relevant organizations.

  • Help identify potential programming ideas, speakers, partners, collaborators, resources, and opportunities for students.

  • Assist with gathering and organizing information to support the development and evaluation of new Center initiatives.

  • Prepare research summaries, presentations, spreadsheets, and other materials to support planning and decision-making.

Communications, Digital Presence & Content

  • Assist in developing and maintaining the Center’s online and digital presence.

  • Support the creation and management of the Center’s social media channels and content strategy.

  • Create and help schedule content highlighting Center programs, events, opportunities, student projects, speakers, partners, and other relevant activities.

  • Assist with developing and updating website content, program descriptions, resource pages, and other digital materials.

  • Create posters, flyers, social media graphics, digital signage, presentations, and other promotional materials for Center programs and initiatives.

  • Assist with drafting and formatting announcements, newsletters, event promotions, and other communications.

  • Help establish and maintain an organized content calendar.

  • Capture basic photo and video content at Center events and programs when needed.

  • Help develop a consistent and professional voice and visual presence for the Center across communication channels.

Programs, Events & Community Engagement

  • Assist with the planning, promotion, and execution of Center programs, workshops, guest speakers, events, and other initiatives.

  • Support event logistics including materials, signage, registration or check-in, hospitality, room setup, and breakdown.

  • Help prepare materials and communications for visiting entrepreneurs, industry professionals, alumni, partners, and guest speakers.

  • Assist with documenting and promoting Center activities before, during, and after events.

  • Help communicate opportunities, programs, resources, and events to students across Berklee.

  • Support outreach and engagement efforts designed to increase awareness of and participation in Center programs.

Project & Operational Support

  • Provide project and administrative support to the Managing Director.

  • Help develop and maintain project plans, timelines, databases, shared files, and organizational systems for Center initiatives.

  • Assist with tracking project progress, deliverables, participation, and other information related to ongoing programs.

  • Support data collection and organization related to Center programs, participation, engagement, and outcomes.

  • Assist with presentations, reports, meeting materials, and other documentation.

  • Support special projects and emerging Center priorities as assigned.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Current Berklee student in good academic standing and eligible for student employment.

  • Strong organizational, research, and information-gathering skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Professional, dependable, responsible, and able to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a developing and evolving environment.

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with the Managing Director and other Berklee stakeholders.

  • Strong working knowledge of common productivity and collaboration tools such as Google Workspace.

  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and digital communication.

  • Interest in innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, business, or the creative industries.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

  • Student in Music Business/Management, Music Industry Leadership and Innovation, Creative Entrepreneurship, or another program related to business, innovation, technology, or the creative industries.

  • Experience conducting research, benchmarking, or competitive analysis.

  • Experience creating social media content for an organization, business, artist, startup, or student organization.

  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar graphic design and content creation tools.

  • Photography, videography, or basic photo/video editing experience.

  • Experience with website content management, newsletters, email marketing, or other digital communication tools.

  • Previous experience with entrepreneurship, startups, student organizations, events, project management, or developing new initiatives.

  • Curiosity about emerging technologies, business models, and trends affecting creators and the creative industries.

Work Expectations:

  • Approximately 12–16 hours per week during the academic semester, based on Center needs and student availability.

  • Regular and reliable attendance during scheduled work hours is expected.

  • Some evening or event support may occasionally be required based on Center programming.

  • Student employees are expected to represent the Center for Innovation and Impact professionally in their work and communications.

Professional Development:

Through this position, students will have opportunities to develop practical skills in program development, entrepreneurship, research, project management, communications, content creation, event coordination, partnership development, and organizational strategy. The role also provides firsthand experience contributing to the development and growth of an evolving center focused on innovation and impact within the creative industries.
