About the Role
As a Freight Operator (Shunter), you will be expected to be available to complete the following Key responsibilities Safely, Competently and as an engaged employee:
- Maintenance and Servicing
- Provisioning and House Keeping
- Performing shunting and yard duties (including cleaning)
- Examining and certifying trains for departure readiness
- Conducting brake tests
- Safely unloading customer products
- Communicating effectively with depot personnel (face-to-face and via two-way radio)
About you
The successful candidate will have consistently demonstrated proactive behaviour and embodied Aurizon’s core values and will play a key role in morale-building and promoting a positive team culture
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- Shunt Qualification (mandatory).
- A current C Class Manual Driver’s Licence
- Flexibility to work a 24/7 roster with shifts up to 12 hours
- Strong commitment to safety, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service focus
