About this role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join the SmartSense R&D team. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, testing, and evolution of SmartSense, Ascom's intelligent monitoring platform for healthcare and long-term care environments.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience building scalable frontend and backend solutions, a strong understanding of modern software architecture, and the ability to drive technical improvements across the full technology stack.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 6 years of professional software development experience.

  • Strong experience with:

    • .NET / .NET Core

    • C#

    • TypeScript

    • React

    • HTML5 and CSS3

    • Node.js

    • Webpack

    • ASP.NETCore and RESTful Web APIs

    • Entity Framework

    • Microsoft SQL Server

  • Experience designing and implementing scalable web applications and distributed systems.

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Object-Oriented Design (OOD)

    • SOLID principles

    • Design patterns

    • Clean Code practices

    • Domain-Driven Design (DDD)

  • Experience writing automated tests, including:

    • Unit tests

    • Integration tests

    • API tests

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development teams.

  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate within international, cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with:

    • Microservice architectures

    • Event-driven systems and messaging technologies

    • RabbitMQ or similar message brokers

    • Containerization using Docker

    • Kubernetes and cloud-native deployments

    • CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

    • Azure DevOps or similar development platforms

  • Experience designing highly available, resilient, and scalable systems.

  • Knowledge of authentication and authorization technologies such as JWT, OAuth2, and OpenID Connect.

  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.

  • Experience working with healthcare, IoT, sensor-based, or real-time event processing systems is considered a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain SmartSense frontend and backend services.

  • Contribute to the evolution of SmartSense towards a scalable microservices and high-availability architecture.

  • Develop modern React-based user interfaces and REST APIs.

  • Participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews.

  • Ensure software quality through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration practices.

  • Collaborate with architects, product owners, QA engineers, and DevOps engineers to deliver high-quality solutions.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.

  • Drive continuous improvements in performance, scalability, maintainability, and security.
