About this role
Responsibilities:
- The Recreation Therapist is responsible for assessment, implementation, facilitation, and documentation related to the Therapeutic Recreation activities within the facility.
- Assess each resident's leisure function and interests upon admission and repeat if needed.
- Develop care plans based on all assessment findings.
- Implement Therapeutic Recreation Programming to meet the specific goals laid out in the care plan.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of TR Programs in meeting the interests if the residents and achieving care plan goals.
- Document resident progress as required by regulation and department policy.
- Maintain attendance records for all Therapeutic Recreation programs.
- Maintain statistical data detailing each resident's participation in TR programs.
- Participate in all Corporate, Facility, and Departmental Quality Assurance initiatives.
- Plan and implement special events.
- Plan and implement community outings.
- Attend all inservices, staff meetings, care plan meetings, and other meetings as necessary.
- Participate in interdepartmental committees as assigned.
- Transport residents to and from TR programs.
- Supervision of volunteers.
- Setup and operate all necesary equipment for TR programs.
- Ensure that adequate leisure supplies are available and inform supervisor of supplies that need to be ordered.
- Develop and post monthly calendar of TR activities on resident unit and at each resident's bedside.
- Other related assignments as necessary.
Qualifications:
- CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) or LCAT (Licensed Creative Arts Therapist) or at least sitting for/eligible to take the CTRS or LCAT exam
- At least 1 year of work experienced in related field
Education:
Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or any of the following Creative Art Therapies: Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Dance Therapy, Drama Therapy
