About this role

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Read prescriptions and specifications received from dentist.
  • Set Up
    • Check models for defect that need correcting before fabrication begins
    • Check articulation of models for proper occlusal relationship
    • Post dam upper models
    • Set pin on articulator to establish vertical relationship
    • Double check teeth to be used for correct mold and shade
    • Place wax on baseplate and set teeth on the arch in proper alignment to achieve proper function and good aesthetics. If setting for wax try-in, soak model in water before set-up. Check occlusion to be sure correct bite relationship has been achieved
  • Waxing
    • Check set-ups for correct alignment and function before beginning waxing
    • Wax in anatomical features to achieve proper function and the best possible aesthetic appearance
    • Carefully clean on and around teeth to remove any excess wax to prevent excess acrylic on surfaces at packing
    • If the case is ready for finish, seal the wax-up to the model to prevent poor fit and poor appearance when acrylic stage is completed
    • Clean wax from models, articulators, and implant bars before shipping to make the most attractive case presentation possible for the doctor and patient
  • Finishing
    • Break processed removable restorations out of flasks and match back to the correct case pan.
    • Remove excess acrylic flash using burs and or cutting wheels
    • Remove excess acrylic from metal areas of partial dentures and from teeth
  • Perform/Document routine scheduled Preventative Maintenance of equipment
  • Participate in Company sponsored training and meetings as required 
  • Support and incorporate Apex Mission, Vision and Core Values 
  • Clean work area daily
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned

Skills and Abilities Required: 

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Excellent eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity
  • Detail oriented

Minimum Education and Experience Required: 

  • A minimum of five years of experience required
  • CDT preferred but not required

  • Small machinery
  • Hand-pieces
  • Chemicals
