JOB SUMMARY
The Career Placement & Alumni Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that graduates of ANEW’s pre-apprenticeship programs successfully transition into employment, registered apprenticeship, and long-term career opportunities. The position owns ANEW’s graduate placement and retention strategy, with a goal to achieve 60%
employment/apprenticeship placement rate and support graduates in remaining employed and progressing in their careers for up to 24 months following graduation.
The position serves as the primary connection between ANEW graduates and employers, contractors, unions, registered apprenticeship programs, and other workforce partners. The position actively develops employment opportunities, prepares and connects graduates to those opportunities, identifies barriers that threaten employment or apprenticeship success, and coordinates appropriate interventions and supportive resources.
The position also leads the ANEW Alumni Group, creating an ongoing community through which graduates can access career support, professional development, networking, mentoring, employment opportunities, and advancement resources throughout their careers.
The Career Placement Coordinator is responsible for the successful placement and retention of ANEW program graduates into family wage careers, establishing and maintaining relationships with industry partners including labor unions, large and small companies, public entities, and any other organization that could potentially offer high-wage career opportunities, assisting department heads in understanding and meeting placement goals of funders, developing new and overseeing established professional networking and retention events like career fairs and speed mentoring, teaching clients how to successfully job hunt, and entering data into internal systems.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with employers, unions, workforce agencies, and industry stakeholders to create work-based learning, apprenticeship, and employment opportunities for program participants.
- Conduct employer outreach and business development activities to identify placement opportunities aligned with participants' career interests, skills, and training pathways.
- Match participants with appropriate job, internship, apprenticeship, and training opportunities based on career goals, qualifications, and employer requirements.
- Outreach and network with potential employers in occupational fields related to ANEW training programs including attending events, making cold calls, visiting companies, walking on to construction job sites, attending in-person meetings,
- Coordinate student placement activities, including referrals, interviews, onboarding, and transition into employment or registered apprenticeship programs.
- Provide career coaching, job readiness support, and employment guidance to participants throughout the placement process.
- Monitor participant progress and maintain regular contact with employers and participants to ensure successful employment outcomes and job retention.
- Manage and engage the program alumni network by maintaining communication, facilitating peer support, sharing career advancement opportunities, and organizing alumni events.
- Track alumni employment status, wage progression, credential attainment, and career advancement outcomes.
Collect, analyze, and maintain accurate participant, placement, retention, and performance data in accordance with grant, funding, and organizational requirements. - Prepare and submit timely reports on program outcomes, employer engagement activities, placements, retention rates, and key performance indicators.
- Maintain participant records and ensure compliance with program policies, funding requirements, and data management standards.
- Collaborate with program staff, instructors, case managers, and workforce partners to support participant success and program goals.
- Submit regular and annual reporting on client placement rates, retention rates, and employer engagement activities
- Research labor market trends and industry workforce needs to identify emerging employment opportunities for participants.
- Promote participant success stories and program outcomes to strengthen employer partnerships and support program growth.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating placement, retention, and alumni engagement strategies to enhance program effectiveness.

- A minimum of 4 years working in job development, career placement services, or closely related field.
- Commitment to DEI values and understanding of equity and social justice principles and how they can be applied internally and in the field.
- Effective and efficient interpersonal communication with diverse stakeholders (i.e. students, employers, educators, and administrators)
- Intermediate level computer, application, and MS 365 experience
- Multi-tasking and effective organization of time and tasks
- Flexibility and adaptability in working with a growing non-profit
- Strong communication and administrative skills with a proven track record of managing multiple projects
- Experience in working with collaborative partnerships
- Knowledge of effective student case management and management of case loads
- Valid Driver’s license, and proof of insurability
- Ability to work flexible schedule to include evening and/or weekend when necessary
- Must provide documents that verify identity and employment authorization within 3 business days of employment
WORK LOCATION: ANEW Tukwila Training Center and Satellite locations as assigned. This position will include regular local travel.
WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Regular workweek is 40 hours, Monday through Friday, regular business hours are 8am-4:00pm. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required. Regular and extensive local daytime travel is expected.
REPORTS TO: Director of Programs
This position is classified as at-will, meaning either the employee or the employer may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or advanced notice
This position is paid as a non- exempt position with a starting pay range of $33.17 -$35.20 per hour.
*Years of experience must be directly related to this position.
BENEFITS
The person in this position is expected to serve a 90-day probation period. Benefits will not be included until and unless the position is made permanent, which is contingent upon performance evaluation, funding, board direction, and potential re-development of the organization and its training/service delivery models. If the position is more than 30/hours per week, employer paid medical benefits will include medical, dental, and vision benefits.
A portion of the medical premium is made by the employee through a pre-tax contribution at time of payroll posting. Employees at 30/hours a week or greater qualify for full benefits and pay a pre-tax contribution of 20% of monthly premiums per month for employee coverage. Additional employer paid benefits include basic life insurance, vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay. ANEW also contributes a 4% match to a 401k after one year of employment. ANEW Employees will not be permitted to use paid vacation or sick leave until successful completion of their 90-day probationary period.
