SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the strategic development and direction of all functions related to the creation, development, delivery, pricing, and execution of conferences, exhibitions, and sponsorships. Responsibility includes the development of fresh and relevant content and delivery mechanisms, the creation of exhibitions that drive value and ROI for exhibitors, and the strategic management of volunteers who contribute to these efforts all while ensuring the achievement of organizational net revenue goals and the coordinated growth and delivery of Products, Programs, and Services (PPS).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Developing and leading conference, event, and exhibition and sponsorship strategies for all event products under AMPP’s brand based on customer and market needs.
• Identifying and developing global event roadmaps for new markets and industries and identifying content opportunities that drive new and increased audience attendance.
• Leading and engaging in cross-functional teams with product owners organization-wide to ensure that products are planned, delivered, and priced in a synchronized and coordinated fashion.
• Researching and benchmarking the AMPP Conference model against other industry leaders and implementing improvements based on that research.
• Analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of exhibition and sponsorship sales strategies, methods, costs, and results.
• Identifying, negotiating, cultivating, and managing new strategic alliances, and partnerships that align with AMPP’s mission and strategic plan.
• Serving as the liaison to volunteer committees, such as the CEPC and supporting other committees cross-functionally that interact with the CEPC and staff.
• Developing, forecasting and monitoring department budgets to meet annual AMPP budget goals.
• Developing and maintaining communications in an effective and professional manner with all levels of AMPP staff, members and customers to ensure a positive corporate image, teamwork and consistent on-target message delivery.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Travel is expected for this role and a passport is required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree or 10 years of work experience in a management role with industry event certifications
• Seven years work experience, with demonstrated success in a leadership position and volunteer management for non-profit or for-profit organization/company.
• Certifications in Conference or Exhibit planning are a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members, employees of the organization, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, etc. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to develop and interpret business graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Must possess a specific level of communication skill both verbal and written. Have demonstrated personnel management skills including, but not limited to, the ability to evaluate staff performance and provide direction, is highly desirable. Ability to work in a multi-task environment taking into account various external factors and to communicate efficiently and accurately to both managers/supervisors and subordinate staff. Must be computer literate with knowledge and experience in word processing and spreadsheet softwares. Ability to learn and use association specific software.
