Summary

The Associate of Specializations supports APTA’s initial certification and PTA Advanced Proficiency Pathways programs through administrative, operational, and customer service tasks that contribute to member value and organizational success. Working under the direction of the Manager of Specializations, this role executes assigned activities with accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism to advance APTA’s mission and priorities.

Essential Functions

Provides exceptional customer service to certification applicants, candidates, volunteers and other stakeholders by responding to inquiries via phone, email, and other communication channels in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
Provides administrative support for the implementation of work plans related to respective activities which align with organizational priorities and business strategy, including (but not limited to) processing and reviewing applications for the specialist certification program; specifically, overseeing the administrative processing, review, and assessment of certification applications and assists with the review and assessment of recertification and maintenance candidates;
Prepares required compliance forms and documents including, when applicable and appropriate, handling refunds and accounts payable requests;
Provides support of the operational, marketing and promotional efforts, including opportunities to advance and gain efficiencies;
Supports the Specializations team in the implementation of the programs, priorities, and projects in partnership with the Association and staff colleagues;
Prepares, in consultation with the Manager, data which supports and aligns with the APTA data strategy and volunteer nominations process;
Engages in providing APTA members and board-certified specialists assistance as needed.

High School Diploma required; some college preferred
2+ years of experience working in a non-profit or business setting
Solid administrative skills
Strong customer service skills, including professional phone etiquette
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Database experience
Must be highly organized; experienced in handling a variety of projects with proven abilities in prioritizing deadlines and seeing projects to completion
Excellent proofreading skills
Must be detail-oriented
Ability to work independently as well as on a team
Excellent and effective communication skills – written and verbal
Must be proficient in MS Office and web-based applications
Experience with SurveyMonkey beneficial but not required

Travel Requirements

Up to 10% - National

Salary: $60,000.00 per year
