About this role

We are seeking a hands-on IT Systems Administrator to support our end users and manage our core Microsoft 365 environment, endpoint devices, and network infrastructure. The role blends day-to-day helpdesk support with system administration responsibilities across Microsoft 365, Active Directory, networking, and firewall/security administration. The ideal candidate is a versatile problem-solver who is comfortable moving between frontline support tickets and project work.  This role will be a vital contributor to a small team of IT professionals in a shared-services/multi-entity environment supporting several portfolio companies.

Responsibilities

    Resolve helpdesk tickets by troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues

    Provide timely, professional support to end users primarily in person but also over phone and email

    Administer Microsoft 365 tenants, including settings, licensing, and services

    Manage user, group, and device provisioning/deprovisioning in Microsoft Entra ID and on-premise Active Directory

    Configure and maintain conditional access policies, security groups, and role-based access

    Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft Teams (channels, policies, meeting/calling configuration)

    Manage SharePoint Online site structure, permissions, and troubleshoot access/sync issues

    Administer endpoint security tooling (application control, antivirus/EDR), including policy tuning, alert triage, and exception requests

    Write and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate account provisioning, reporting, and routine administrative tasks

    Use command-line tools (PowerShell, CMD) for troubleshooting and system administration

    Administer the MDM platform for endpoint enrollment, compliance policies, and application deployment

    Provide basic network administration support: switches, wireless access points, IP addressing/DHCP, DNS

    Configure, monitor, and maintain firewall rules and policies

    Set up and support VPN connections for remote users

    Monitor system health, backups, and performance across the environment

    Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures

    Participate in IT projects such as system migrations, upgrades, and rollouts

    Ensure adherence to IT security policies and best practices

Required Qualifications

    5+ years of experience in IT, with at least 2 years of experience in a Systems Administration role

    Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint)

    Experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) user/group provisioning and access management

    Experience in Command Line Scripting, Batch Scripting, writing PowerShell scripts

    Experience with MDM platforms for mobile/endpoint management

    Working knowledge of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs)

    Hands-on experience with firewalls, including rule/policy configuration and VPN setup

Preferred Qualifications

    Microsoft certifications (MS-102, MD-102, SC-300), CompTIA Security+ or Network+, or firewall vendor certifications

    Experience working for an MSP or in a company with distinct companies/business units with disparate IT systems

    Experience with Microsoft 365 multi-tenant organization (MTO) configuration, cross-tenant access, and directory sync

    Advanced Scripting and Automation experience

    Experience with AI adoption governance, including AI deployment, data access review, and acceptable-use
