Job Title: Associate Director of Education    
Location: 1405 Shady Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15217
Schedule: Monday – Friday, Full Time, Onsite  
The Associate Director of Education serves as a key member of The Day School (TDS) leadership team and is responsible for the day-to-day operations, implementation of educational programming, and oversight of student services. Reporting to the Executive Director of Education, this role ensures the effective execution of school priorities, operational excellence, and the delivery of high-quality educational and therapeutic services for students with complex needs.
The Associate Director of Education provides hands-on leadership across school operations, instructional programming, staff supervision, compliance, student services, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position works closely with educational supervisors, clinical partners, families, school districts, and organizational support departments to ensure a coordinated, safe, and student-centered environment that supports academic achievement, behavioral growth, communication, social-emotional development, and independence.
 
Responsibilities
 
Operational Leadership & School Management
  • Provides day-to-day operational leadership for The Day School, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Partners with the Executive Director of Education to implement strategic priorities and organizational initiatives.
Educational Program Implementation & Instructional Leadership
  • Ensures the implementation and continuous improvement of educational programming aligned with special education regulations, evidence-based practices, and organizational goals.
Staff Supervision & Leadership
  • Supervises, supports, and develops school staff as assigned in support of the Executive Director of Education.
Organizational Leadership
  • Demonstrates commitment to The Children's Institute's Mission, Vision, and Core Values in all interactions and decisions.
 
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, School Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university required.
  • Pennsylvania Principal Certification, Supervisor of Special Education Certification, or equivalent educational leadership certification preferred.
  • Pennsylvania Special Education Certification preferred.
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain appropriate Pennsylvania educational leadership certification.
  • Maintain all certifications and licensure required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
  • Clearances Required: Act 73 FBI, Act 34 Criminal Clearance, and Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
