About this role
What we're looking for:
We need someone with 5+ years of security engineering experience who has built or contributed to security programs from the ground up. You should be comfortable owning security broadly — from application security and detection to compliance and corporate security — at an early-stage company with high autonomy. Bonus points if you've been the first or second security hire at a fast-growing startup and have experience in the identity/access management space.
What you'll do:
Shape and own Aloe's security posture across the full stack — embedded in engineering throughout the product development process
Build security systems from scratch including secrets management, certificate infrastructure, audit logging, and vulnerability management
Lead security reviews, threat modeling, and secure design consultation as a trusted engineering partner to the broader team
Own and drive compliance programs (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, CCPA) from an engineering perspective
Define and mature incident response processes and detection capabilities
Partner closely with the co-founder/CPO/CSO (who has a security background) while maintaining high individual ownership of the security function
Wear multiple hats across product security, corporate security, and compliance — with the opportunity to build out a security team over time
About the team & company:
Aloe Identity is a seed-stage, stealth-mode startup reimagining enterprise identity. Founded by the team behind Fleetsmith (acquired by Apple in 2020), we're building a secure-by-design identity platform that combines consumer-grade UX with best-in-class security practices. We're a 12-person fully remote team backed by a top-tier Bay Area VC with significant runway. You'll report directly to our co-founder/CPO/CSO and be the first dedicated security hire, with a clear path to building out the security function as we scale.
