Description

A Pharmacist is a healthcare professional responsible for preparing and dispensing medications, ensuring the safety and efficacy of pharmaceutical treatments. They provide expert advice on medication use, potential side effects, and drug interactions. Pharmacists also conduct health and wellness screenings, manage pharmacy inventory, and collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care. Their role is essential in maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients.

  • Receiving and filling prescriptions
  • Communicating with medical professionals about patients and their medications
  • Listening to patients’ reports of symptoms and provide suggestions for over-the-counter medications
  • Accurately measuring, preparing and distributing proper medications to the patients that need them
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to appointment.
  • Ensure accuracy in patient billing and coding information.
  • Organize and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the reception area.
  • Responsible for obtaining authorizations and referrals, addressing billing inquiries and collections.

Requirements

Education • Graduate degree from an accredited pharmacy college recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)

  • Completion of an emergency contraception training course approved by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE), curriculum-based programs from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy, applicable state or local health department programs, or programs recognized by the board of pharmacy upon hire
  • Valid state pharmacist license - Alabama
