Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney

Albert & Mackenzie, LLP is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to join our California practice. This fully remote role defends employers, insurers, and TPAs in California's workers' compensation system, handling high-volume matters from inception to resolution. You’ll collaborate with adjusters and clients to achieve efficient, favorable outcomes.
What youll do
- Represent employers and insurers at WCAB hearings, conferences, and trials.
- Take ownership of a full caseload, driving claims toward efficient and favorable resolutions.
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, settlement agreements, and other CA workers' compensation documents.
- Take and defend depositions, including doctor depositions.
- Draft and argue motions, and negotiate settlements.
- Communicate regularly with adjusters and clients about case strategy and status.
What Albert & Mackenzie, LLP is looking for
- 1.5+ years of dedicated experience in California Workers' Compensation Defense.
- Active California State Bar license and Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Experience appearing before the California WCAB; taking and defending depositions (including doctor depositions); trial experience (first or second chair) a plus.
- Proficiency with dictation software and paperless, remote workflows.
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload in a fully remote environment.
- Willingness to commit to a full-time role with a standard schedule.
