The Operations Manager is responsible for executing and delivering the operations and financial plan of the branch location. As a hands-on operational leader, the Operations Manager ensures efficient daily execution, optimizes resource allocation, and drives business effectiveness and growth.
With strong technical and managerial skills, the operations leader implements and manages a robust structure, manages financial performance, and leads operations toward 3 main goals: safety, quality and operational performance.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Operations management
- Closely collaborate with all Snow group resources (Sales, Engineering, Master planning, HR, Logistic, Finance)
- Manage local ops schedule and performance for all activities, including Shipping/Receiving, inventory management,
- Establish and monitor KPIs, set the monthly revenue forecast,
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in compliance with Snow-Group and customers’ standards.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen technical performance and operational output and customer trust.
- Financial, Business & Facility Management
- Manage the plant budget with full accountability for costs and budget variances.
- Monitor and analyze KPIs, identifying areas for improvement and corrective actions.
- Contribute to strategic planning for the branch’s long-term development.
- Oversee facility operations, ensuring compliance with H&S regulations, security, and maintenance.
- Optimize use of the facility to support upfitting but also service and parts activities.
- Plan and supervise investments or site upgrades to maximize efficiency, safety, and growth potential.
- People Management & Leadership
- Lead, coach, empower, and develop a multidisciplinary team
- Recruit, onboard, and retain talent aligned with the branch’s growth objectives.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance objectives.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous learning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):
- Strong planning and project management skills with the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Knowledge and understanding of production control and scheduling with regards to workforce requirements and production schedules.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques such as 5S, Continuous Flow, Kanban required.
- Demonstrate the ability to drive for improvement of business goals and objectives through effective use of programs, tools, and resources.
- Experienced and familiarity with the review and analysis of income statements and balance sheet information.
- Highly skilled and proficient use of technology, including standard office software [Word, Excel, PowerPoint] and ERP systems, i.e. JD Edwards, and CRM.
- Able to think critically and identify solutions to problems.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to communicate at various levels within the organization.
- Excellent leadership skills, ability to solve problems, persuade, and motivate others.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills required.
- Must be able to work extended hours, including weekends. Travel may be required.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required, with emphasis in Industrial Engineering, Business Management and/or related areas. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum 7-10 years in an operational leadership role.
- Previous experience working with heavy road equipment is a plus.
- Track record of successfully leading teams and delivering results.
