About this role
Akicita is seeking a Public Health Subject Matter Expert (SME) to serve as the immunization and clinical quality lead for a nationwide Indian Health Service (IHS) initiative to improve immunization coverage reporting and Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) performance.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the project's authority on immunization program operations, coverage measurement, and public health reporting
- Analyze how immunization data systems — GPRA measures, Clinical Reporting System (CRS), iCARE, RPMS, and the National Immunization Reporting System (NIRS)/National Vaccine Coverage dashboard — are used across the IHS enterprise
- Lead the current state assessment: design interview and survey instruments, engage providers and program staff, and identify gaps, redundancies, and outdated reporting practices
- Facilitate structured interviews and validation workshops with IHS HQ Immunization Coordinators and program contacts to build consensus on best practices
- Shape standardized guidance and training content on interpreting coverage data, identifying missed opportunities, and driving outreach, recall, and quality improvement
- Co-author the final recommendations report and executive briefing

Required Qualifications
• Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or a related field
• Minimum 8 years of experience in immunization programs, public health reporting, quality measurement, healthcare performance improvement, or related healthcare initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience interpreting clinical quality measures and healthcare reporting systems
• Direct experience with IHS, tribal, or urban Indian health programs; familiarity with RPMS/CRS and GPRA immunization measures
• Immunization coalition, VFC, or state/territorial immunization information system (IIS) program experience
• Strong facilitation and consensus-building skills with clinical audiences
