About the Role
Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of public K–8 charter schools committed to providing students with a rigorous, high-quality education and preparing them for future success. As a Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant), you will work closely with teachers and campus staff to support student learning, classroom instruction, and daily classroom operations. This role provides both individual and small-group student support while helping maintain a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.
What You’ll Do
Support teachers with lesson delivery, classroom activities, and student transitions.
Provide one-on-one and small-group support to reinforce skills and concepts.
Assist with individualized learning plans, interventions, and student support needs.
Help reinforce classroom expectations and positive student behavior.
Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned activities.
Help maintain a safe, structured, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources.
Assist with grading, documentation, and other classroom administrative tasks as directed.
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to promote student success.
Provide classroom coverage or substitute support as needed.
What We’re Looking For
High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of a paraprofessional exam, OR
Associate degree or higher.
Previous experience working with children in a school or similar educational setting.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and demonstrate initiative.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, families, and campus staff.
Commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and learning needs.
Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
Previous experience in a Title I or diverse school environment preferred.
Background Requirements
Must successfully complete all required pre-employment background screening.
Arkansas Child Maltreatment Central Registry clearance.
Required fingerprinting and applicable Arkansas education background clearance.
