Location: 1780 Betty Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89156
Start Date: 2026–2027 School Year
Compensation Range: $54,000 – $60,813 annually (DOE)

Position Overview

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.

AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven Middle School Math & Science Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that develops students’ scientific reasoning, critical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry skills.

AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, hands-on learning, and consistent use of data to inform instruction.

The ideal candidate is committed to supporting students in Title I communities while maintaining high academic expectations and creating a positive, engaging, and inquiry-based classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Student Achievement

  • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned science instruction aligned with AMS curriculum frameworks

  • Develop students’ scientific reasoning, critical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry skills

  • Incorporate hands-on investigations, experiments, and real-world applications of scientific concepts

  • Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level

  • Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and targeted interventions

  • Prepare students for grade-level standards and assessments through engaging and purposeful instruction

Classroom Culture & Student Support

  • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment

  • Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies

  • Maintain a safe and organized environment for laboratory activities and hands-on learning

  • Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development

  • Encourage curiosity, collaboration, and a love of scientific discovery

Collaboration & Professional Growth

  • Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities

  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to strengthen instructional practices

  • Analyze student data and adjust instruction to improve student outcomes

  • Contribute to school-wide systems focused on student achievement and continuous improvement

Family Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic expectations

  • Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships

  • Provide families with appropriate updates regarding student achievement, classroom expectations, and areas for growth

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Valid teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE)

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Science, Education, or a related field

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom and create a positive learning environment

  • Commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities

  • Strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and instructional leaders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous middle school science teaching experience

  • Experience teaching life science, physical science, earth science, or related middle school science coursework

  • Experience working in Title 1

  • Experience supporting English Language Learners

  • Experience incorporating hands-on science investigations and project-based learning

  • Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred
