About the Role
The Human Resources Generalist will partner with 2080HR's HR Managers and Directors to provide day-to-day HR support across multiple client organizations. This is a great opportunity for an HR professional with startup and/or emerging company experience who is ready to expand their HR expertise, gain exposure to a variety of companies, industries, and HR environments, and grow into greater client ownership.
Location: Los Angeles, CA | Remote (work from home), with onsite LA based client visits as needed
What You'll Do
Client Support
Partner with 2080HR's HR Managers and Directors to support HR functions across multiple client engagements, industries, company stages, HR environments, and business needs
Deliver high-quality day-to-day HR support across key employee lifecycle functions, including onboarding, offboarding, employee and payroll changes, leave administration, unemployment claims, and other employee-related matters, including Reduction in Force (RIF) and layoff support
Draft and issue offer letters, termination documentation, and related employment paperwork, exercising sound judgment to ensure accuracy and compliance and escalating matters appropriately when needed
Serve as a day-to-day HR resource for client managers and employees as part of an embedded fractional HR team
Support the development and implementation of HR processes, procedures, policies, and programs that align with client needs and company culture
Address employee benefit questions in partnership with clients' brokers of record and support Benefits Renewals and Open Enrollment with HR Management oversight
Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation while supporting compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements
Manage and maintain client HRIS and related HR/payroll systems, identify opportunities for process improvements, and support system optimization and implementation
Research employment requirements and HR best practices and assist with policies, employee communications, and client recommendations
Coordinate and support employee engagement, performance management, learning and development, and other people programs
Support client meetings by preparing agendas and materials, coordinating follow-up and action items, and reviewing HR data and metrics to help identify trends and insights for client leadership in partnership with 2080HR Management
Partner with HR Managers/Directors on employee relations matters
Visit client locations throughout the Los Angeles, California area as needed
Internal Support
Support successful onboarding and offboarding of 2080HR clients
Collaborate closely with HR Managers, Directors, Payroll, and other team members to deliver a consistent client and team experience
Maintain accurate and timely tracking of client work for invoicing
Conduct HR, employment law, and compliance research to support client recommendations, policies, and communications
Continue developing HR expertise across multiple industries, jurisdictions, and HR technology platforms
Share knowledge and resources and contribute to a collaborative team environment
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, I/O Psychology, Communications, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
2+ years of progressive, hands-on HR experience in an HR Coordinator, HR Administrator, People Operations, and/or HR Generalist role
1+ year of experience working in or directly supporting a startup or emerging company
Hands-on experience across multiple areas of the employee lifecycle, such as onboarding, offboarding, employee changes, benefits, leaves, HRIS administration, payroll coordination, and compliance
Working knowledge of employment laws and HR practices, particularly in California and New York
Multi-state HR experience preferred
Experience in technology, biotech/life sciences, consumer products/CPG, or other high-growth industries preferred
Experience with HRIS and payroll platforms such as Rippling, Gusto, ADP, Justworks, TriNet, Paylocity, Paycom, or similar systems
Strong client service mindset with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with employees, managers, executives, and external partners
Highly organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive employee information

For Los Angeles, California applicants, the expected salary range for this position is $72,000–$79,000 annually. Actual compensation will depend on relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
