About San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS)

As the largest provider of public transportation in San Diego County, the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is committed to providing exceptional service to the people of the San Diego region.

Every year, more than 81 million passenger trips are taken on MTS buses and Trolleys. Our system spans a dedicated network of 92 fixed-route bus lines and 65 miles of Trolley service. Powered by a fleet of compressed natural gas buses and electric Trolleys, MTS proudly operates as one of the greenest operations in San Diego.

Moving forward, we are actively testing a zero-emission bus program with a formal commitment to transitioning to an all-electric fleet by 2040. As our region grows, public transit remains central to achieving regional mobility and environmental goals.MTS is one of the most modern and dynamic public transportation systems in North America, and we invite you to help us drive our mission forward.
