Founded in 1964 in Liverpool, NS, Mersey Seafoods is one of Nova Scotia's largest privately owned seafood companies, exporting to international markets around the world. Mersey owns a fleet of four large fishing vessels harvesting northern shrimp, offshore scallops and groundfish with a modern scallop processing facility in Liverpool, NS and a cold storage facility in Country Harbour, NS. In 2019, Mersey acquired an interest in Scotia Harvest Inc., a vertically integrated seafood company based in Digby, NS with a fleet of vessels fishing scallops and groundfish and a state of the art 46,000 sq ft processing facility completed in 2021. In 2021, Mersey acquired 75 per cent ownership in Fisherman's Market International Inc., a long-standing Halifax based retailer, wholesaler, and exporter of fresh, frozen, smoked, and salted seafood as well as live and frozen Atlantic lobster. Mersey Seafoods owns two ship repair businesses with significant capabilities, Mersey Marine Limited (formerly STENPRO), located in Liverpool, NS and Shelburne Ship Repair, providing a comprehensive range of services in the marine repair sector.

Fisherman's Market International Inc. has grown from our humble start in a weathered building on the Halifax waterfront to a diverse seafood company that sells and processes millions of pounds of seafood annually. Today, we are a wholesaler, retailer, and exporter of all things seafood, We work with over 100 local suppliers and employ more than 150 skilled individuals, directly supporting hundreds of Maritime fishermen and their crews. We operate in six plants throughout Nova Scotia’s fishing communities and three buying stations located right at the wharf. Our processors fillet by hand, more than 12,000 pounds of fish every day.
