The National Strategic Research Institute (NSRI) at the University of Nebraska (NU) is one of 15 U.S. Department of War (DOW)-designated University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs). UARCs are research organizations within a university or college that are established to provide or maintain essential engineering, research and/or development capabilities through a long-term, strategic relationship with the DOW.
Established in 2012, with the DOW sponsor, United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), NSRI helps the DOW and other federal agencies meet evolving national security objectives across all domains by responsively delivering innovative research and solutions while developing the workforce.
The success of NSRI is driven by our collaboration with the University of Nebraska System, providing unique access to academic perspectives and research methods not currently found anywhere else in the DOW. Our research community includes more than 350 researchers in diverse disciplines and state-of-the-art facilities to generate innovative, real-world solutions. Furthermore, projects undertaken from an academic perspective ensures that critical skill sets are nurtured, developed and remain available for sustaining the mission in the future.
NSRI has established and developed a research portfolio to address the research needs and advance the mission of USSTRATCOM and other DOW entities. Working with our sponsors and partners, we generate cutting-edge research solutions in the prevention, detection, protection, response and recovery from threats.

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc (RFMH) is a private, not-for-profit membership corporation organized in 1952, for the purpose of assisting and enhancing the research and training objectives of the New York State Department of Mental Hygiene and its component agencies; the Office of Mental Health (OMH), the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS). Through an agreement with NYS, RFMH has been designated as the organization responsible for administering and directing the conduct of all sponsored research programs carried out by scientists at Department of Mental Hygiene institutes or facilities. Sponsored research activities are carried out at the central offices of the Department as well as at the Departments at the three research institutes. RFMH provides an organizational bridge between the scientist and those wishing to support his or her work, be it the Federal Government, State Government, Individuals, Foundations or, as is frequently the case, a combination of multiple sponsors. RFMH provides the Department of Mental Hygiene and their scientists with the independence and administrative flexibility to respond quickly to the special demands of sponsored programs in a manner that facilitates their scientific or technical execution. These are needs that could not be as easily accommodated through state processes.

CYENS Centre of Excellence is the first research centre in Cyprus focusing on interactive media, smart systems, and emerging technologies aiming to become a Centre of Excellence empowering knowledge and technology transfer in the region. It is a joint venture between the three public universities of Cyprus (University of Cyprus, Cyprus University of Technology, Open University of Cyprus), the Municipality of Nicosia, and two renowned international partners, the Max Planck Institute for Informatics (MPI) from Germany and University College London (UCL) from the UK. CYENS will be an integrator of academic research and industrial innovation, towards the sustainable fueling of scientific, technological and socio-economic growth of Cyprus and Europe. The Centre sets out to meet the challenge with a total potential funding of over 30 million Euros for the first seven years, from a Horizon 2020 Team Action and multiple other sources including the Government of Cyprus, and a business plan for long-term sustainability and growth. Hosting CYENS in the historic heart of Nicosia is part of the strategy of the city to foster the development of an inclusive innovation and creativity ecosystem.
