Politically, culturally and economically, Makivik has been a leader in building and developing a vibrant region called Nunavik, where, between the dualistic nations of Canada and Quebec, Inuit have established our own distinct place and identity. Makivik, which in Inuktitut means “To Rise Up,” is a fitting name for an organization mandated to speak on behalf of the Inuit of Nunavik, and protect the rights, interests and financial compensation provided by the 1975 James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, the first comprehensive Inuit land claim in Canada, and the more recent offshore Nunavik Inuit Land Claim Agreement that came into effect in 2008. The Corporation’s distinct mandates range from owning large profitable business enterprises and generating jobs; to social economic development, improved housing conditions, to protection of the Inuit language and culture and the natural environment. In 2017 Makivik created Nuvviti Development Corporation to operate its subsidiary companies and joint venture partnerships. Makivik’s work demonstrates the extent that modern aboriginal treaties or land claim settlements could benefit governments and Inuit. In 1975 when the first Agreement was signed, it took the position that “settling Inuit land claims” must be viewed in the context of a “new beginning” in terms of developing and implementing a new relationship and way of doing business with the governments of Quebec and Canada. Makivik Corporation and its subsidiary companies have a remarkably positive story to tell and we invite you to explore this site to learn more about Makivik and the Inuit of Nunavik.

Together We Can Make the Future and Build a Country Where Everyone Can Thrive. We believe that no matter where we come from or what our color, most of us want the same things. We want to earn enough to thrive, not just survive, and leave a better future for our kids. We want healthy food and clean water, safe neighborhoods and a safe world. We want to be free. But the richest people on Earth — and the political insiders who serve them — have rigged the rules of our economy and our democracy to grab up wealth and power for themselves. They have defunded our schools, undermined community services, and stripped working people of the right to organize into unions. And then they blame poor people or people of different races or different places — aiming to divide us and distract us from what we have in common. The Working Families Party is regular people coming together across our differences to make a better future for us all. We’re a multiracial party that fights for workers over bosses and people over the powerful. We want an America which realizes the promise – unrealized in our history – of freedom and equality for all.
NEOS stands for political renewal, freedom and justice in Austria. Our core concern is to give every individual every opportunity, both today and in the future. We are committed to a free and fair society of opportunity, in which the big picture counts and political challenges are tackled with courage and transparency. Education is our key to a self-determined life. We strive for equal opportunities in the education system in order to support every child individually, regardless of their background or mother tongue. We recognize that education is a lifelong process that extends from elementary education to adult education. In recent years, Austria has had to deal with corruption scandals. NEOS was founded 10 years ago to counteract this trend with maximum transparency. We are the only party that fully discloses its finances and public funds and are working to transform Austria into an honest business that serves its citizens. We are committed to entrepreneurial freedom and want to promote the talents and business ideas of people like you. By removing bureaucratic hurdles and supporting innovation and start-ups, we want to modernize Austria as a business location and create more flexible working environments. Strengthening cohesion in Europe is a particular concern of ours. In view of the challenges, such as the war in Ukraine, we advocate a United States of Europe capable of taking action with a common foreign and security policy, a self-confident European Parliament, an efficient government and more opportunities for citizens to participate. NEOS is taking a bold step into the future to work for a free, fair and sustainable society in Austria and Europe.
The California School Employees Association is the largest classified school employees union in the United States, representing more than 250,000 school support staff throughout California. CSEA members perform a wide range of essential work in our public schools and community colleges, including security, food services, office and clerical work, school maintenance and operations, transportation, academic assistance and paraeducator services, library and media assistance, computer services and more. CSEA was formed in 1927 when a determined group of Oakland custodians came together to support an elderly custodian who couldn’t afford to retire because public schools had no pension plan for such employees. This small group of custodians saw the need to gain rights and benefits for themselves and other school employees, and began the organization to achieve this goal. Through this initial determination, CSEA proved to be an organization that would stand the test of time. In 2001, CSEA members voted to become an independently chartered union of the AFL-CIO. Today, CSEA continues to thrive as a member-governed union, democratically run by member volunteers in nearly 800 local chapters throughout the state. The union is led by the CSEA Board of Directors. Labor Relations Representatives and other professional staff work under the authority of CSEA’s Executive Director. We are proud of our contributions toward California’s future, and we strive everyday to carry out our mission to improve the lives of our members, students and communities.
For Our Future is a 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and PAC that empowers people in battleground states and districts to organize their communities, build progressive power, and fight for a government that works for everyone. We are a year-round, scalable organizing program with an outsized impact, training volunteers, organizers, and canvassers to have neighbor-to-neighbor, friend-to-friend conversations—online and in person—about issues that matter to working families. We use proven and innovative strategies—testing and analyzing data every election cycle—to help people persuade and mobilize their friends and neighbors, driving participation in every election. For Our Future invests year-round in well-trained community organizers and canvassers, building lasting capacity in battleground states, and scaling when and where the need is greatest. Guided by a board that includes AFSCME, AFT, NEA, and SEIU, our structure allows us to move quickly, adapt to changing conditions, and ensure every dollar raised goes straight into the organizing programs that deliver results. We reach voters where they are, having real conversations online and at the door. From there, we help people take deeper action: recruiting friends, volunteering, and leading local teams. Because we use non-election years to strengthen our capacity, earn community trust, and refine our strategies, we are uniquely positioned to grow in election years. Our model allows us to scale quickly, adjust targets as priorities shift, train state teams effectively, and deliver measurable results. When national campaigns need trusted capacity, they turn to us. This has enabled us to win local, state, and federal elections, advance ballot initiatives, and implement policies that make a difference.
