Job Summary
As a mechanic at Timber Creek Recycling, you will be a key member of our team, responsible for the maintenance and repair of our heavy equipment, including wheel loaders, excavators, grinders, and a fleet of trucks and trailers. You will ensure our vehicles operate safely, smoothly, and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of our operations.
In this role, you will primarily work on Caterpillar wheel loaders, excavators, and specialty heavy equipment such as Diamond Z grinders and Metso impact crushers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance on all heavy equipment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical problems using diagnostic software and determine the most effective corrective actions.
- Conduct in field repairs with a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Utilize company-provided software to manage work orders and track repair costs.
Perform cutting, grinding, and welding (both stick and MIG) as needed for repairs and fabrication.
Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to perform maintenance and repairs accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop.
Communicate effectively with management and office staff regarding repair status, timelines, and any potential delays.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy duty diesel repair with verified experience.
- Must own personal tools required to perform job duties. Special tools will be provided.
- Ability to read wiring and hydraulic schematics.
- Minimum of 3 years of verified experience in heavy equipment repair.
- Must own the personal tools required to perform job duties (specialized tools will be provided).
- Ability to read and interpret wiring and hydraulic schematics.
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A valid driver's license and a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) to test drive company vehicles.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Class “A” CDL preferred, but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently push or pull up to 75 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
- Frequently lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
- Stoop, bend, and twist frequently.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in various environments, including adverse weather conditions as needed.
