Field Service Technician

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Field Service Technician to join our team in York, PA. This role offers a unique blend of field service, production testing, and customer technical support, providing opportunities to work closely with engineering, production, and customers while supporting innovative HVAC solutions.

About the Role

The Field Service Technician will divide their time between onsite equipment startup and troubleshooting, production testing of HVAC equipment, and providing technical support to customers. This position is ideal for an individual with strong electrical and HVAC troubleshooting skills who enjoys both hands-on field work and collaborative problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

Field Service & Technical Support

  • Provide technical support to customers via phone and email.
  • Travel to customer sites for equipment startup and service support (approximately 15–30% travel).
  • Troubleshoot installation and operational issues with HVAC equipment.
  • Support warranty and field service activities, ensuring timely issue resolution.
  • Deliver professional customer service and maintain strong customer relationships.

Production Testing & Engineering Support

  • Assist with testing and validation of HVAC equipment in the production environment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot system performance issues.
  • Support quality assurance efforts through detailed testing and documentation.

Technical Expertise

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, refrigeration, and control system issues.
  • Work with microprocessor- and PLC-based controls, including variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Apply HVAC system knowledge to startup, commissioning, and service activities.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control sequences.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with controls-based HVAC systems.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with HVAC equipment startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting refrigeration and electrical circuits.

Education & Certifications

  • HVAC Trade School certification, Associate Degree, or higher in a related field.

Knowledge of:

  • Refrigeration systems and circuits
  • Electro-mechanical systems
  • Basic to intermediate controls and controls logic
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (Type II or Universal).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC equipment operation and controls.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
