The Shipping Associate is responsible for pulling orders, loading trucks, and operating forklifts to move steel parts. They also handle labeling, crating, and participating in physical inventory counts to ensure customer satisfaction.

Requirements

Candidates should have shipping and warehousing experience and be able to obtain a forklift certification. Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods is required, along with basic computer and math skills.

Shipping Associate Team Member
 
Job description
Steel & Metal Systems has an immediate opening for a Shipping Associate. The Shipping Associate will perform general shipping duties including driving a forklift, operating a pallet jack, loading trucks, labeling orders, and confirming order quantities. Shipping Associate team members must be highly organized, be able to work with minimum supervision, and be able to lift 50 lbs. or more consistently. Successful team members should have or be able to obtain a forklift certification. The Shipping Associate will pull daily orders / invoices within time limits, create crates for steel parts, stage orders by job, and load trucks as required. The team member will work on various projects as they occur and as time permits: such as reorganizing parts in the shipping yard and participating in physical inventory counts. Much of the job is standing and walking.
 
Duties, tasks and responsibilities:
  • Perform all shipping tasks required to create satisfied customers
  • Perform all tasks in a timely and economical manner
 
Requirements and skills for the job:
  • Shipping experience
  • Forklift Certification
  • Writing, math, and communication skills (High School Diploma or GED preferred)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experienced in Warehousing with organizational skills and a detailed-oriented, quality mindset
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work within a deadline under pressure and handle interruptions
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods, climb ladders, reach overhead and lift 30 to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Location: In person
Schedule:
  • 8-hour shift
  • Day shift (7:00 AM till 4:00 PM)
  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime – As needed
