The Coordinator directs a specific part of the parish's Religious Education Program, including recruiting and training catechists. They are responsible for designing curriculum, managing budgets, and ensuring adherence to Diocesan policies.
Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in Religious Studies or a related field and be in the process of obtaining Master Catechist Certification. A deep respect for Catholic Church teachings and strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required.

The Parish Coordinator of Religious Education is responsible for the direction of a specific part of a parish’s total Religious Education Program (e.g. youth programs). The coordinator shall be responsible to the Parish Catechetical Leader. In the event that there is not a Catechetical Leader, the Coordinator may assume some responsibilities. However, the coordinator is not authorized to teach catechist certification courses in theology.

Work is performed mostly in an office setting. Employee may be required to work more than 40 hours including occasional evenings and weekends; performs extensive computer work.
The ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar. Must be able to use basic office computer hardware and peripherals, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (15 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
