Act as the primary technical liaison to troubleshoot mechanical design discrepancies and non-conformances in an aircraft production environment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate design changes using CAD tools and ensure solutions meet airworthiness requirements.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with at least 2 years of experience in mechanical design and CAD software. Must be a U.S. citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
Troubleshoot discrepancies and non-conformances in mechanical designs to ensure our fast-paced aircraft modification production lines can continue without disruption
Interpret mechanical engineering drawings and technical specifications, and advise technicians and quality inspectors on design requirements
Incorporate drawing changes and product improvement updates using CAD tools such as SolidWorks or CATIA
Generate engineering dispositions for non-conforming conditions that occur during on-aircraft assembly and testing, ensuring solutions adhere to stringent quality and airworthiness requirements as well as company design and production standards
Participate in design reviews and advise remote design engineering teams on requirements and limitations specific to assembly and fabrication in the production environment
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or a related role.
Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
Experience creating and interpreting engineering drawings for complex parts and large assemblies
Proficient in mechanical design principles and computer-aided design (CAD) software
Ability to work on-site in an aircraft production environment
Ability to function independently and communicate effectively with team members located remotely at different work sites
Background in the aerospace, aviation, or defense industry
Experience working with aerospace and aviation industry-standard structural design principles and fabrication practices
Experience with manufacturing, production, and product support to include disposition of engineering discrepancies and non-conformances
Experience applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, including parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing, and production processes
Knowledge of environmental requirements for components utilized in aircraft or space applications
Experience with FAA, NASA, and/or DoD design and airworthiness standards for aircraft structural components
Experience interpreting and applying industry standards such as MIL-STD/MIL-SPEC, NAS, SAE, etc.
Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
Occasional travel may be required.
Ability to work in an office or hybrid environment.
Applying systematic and logical problem-solving techniques to develop mechanical designs
Clearly convey technical information, design specifications, and project updates to team members, stakeholders, and management
Ability to understand technical documents, designs and test reports.
