We have several offices in Central and Southern England and have ambitious plans to expand our business. We have a new opportunity for a Senior Manager to join our Compliance team. This is a permanent full-time or part-time role with hybrid and flexible working options. This role will involve travel to a few offices within the Shaw Gibbs Group.
The RoleThis role supports the Integration & Compliance Director in delivering the Shaw Gibbs Group compliance strategy. It is varied and engaging, with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact quickly.
The role includes responsibility for supporting the compliance integration of UK firms, including selected future M&A activity, and coordinating the rollout of a consistent, Group-wide risk governance framework.
The Senior Manager will support the central compliance function across key areas including:
- AML standardisation
- Ethics and financial crime
- Anti-fraud requirements
- DPB compliance
- Wider quality and risk work from a practice assurance perspective
The role requires a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach to compliance, alongside the ability to lead cross-office initiatives where required.
Your key responsibilities will include:- Promote a risk and compliance culture, helping to embed it into Shaw Gibbs, by facilitating and organisation training and communication on compliance matters.
- Oversight of regulatory applications to ACCA/ICAEW or other regulatory bodies for all new acquisitions e.g. Audit, AML, DBP.
- Maintain the Shaw Gibbs relationship with professional bodies, including ACCA, and ICAEW.
- Provide clear and accurate reporting to the Compliance Director with regards to compliance findings and breaches
- Build collaborative relationships across Group to ensure all regulatory compliance risks are managed and reported in an effective and timely manner.
- Help develop a Group-wide risk governance framework to identify, assess, and manage risks across all business operations, including financial, operational, technology, reputational and strategic risks. Maintain a central Group risk register.
- Prepare regular risk reports and summary dashboards for senior management and the Board, highlighting key exposures and trends.
- Facilitate the move of Group MLCP role into the Compliance team.
- Understand GDPR requirements and ensure Group compliance risks are managed and any ICO reports are made on a timely basis.
- Drafting of new regulatory guidelines for the company and effective implementation and communication of new regulatory guidelines across Group.
- Actively be involved in Group project work representing Compliance to ensure best industry practice for regulatory compliance is embedded into business development and process changes.
- Work with the Compliance Director to ensure strategic risk and compliance processes and suitable software is in place to support the on-going growth of the business.
- Able to confidently consult with IT and service line Partners; run governance forums with cross-Group Compliance owners.
- Day-to-day oversight of risk and compliance activities, managing team workflow.
- Deal with ad hoc queries that come into the shared Risk and Compliance inbox to support the business in a timely manner.

About YouWe would like to hear from you if you have minimum of 5 years UK regulatory experience gained within a practice environment (legal or accountancy) or in a regulatory team at a regulatory body (e.g. ICAEW, ICAS or ACCA). The role will manage all strategic, operational and regulatory risks.
The successful candidate will have a keen interest in and foundational level understanding of risk & compliance in a professional services firm. You will have a good base knowledge of CDD, anti-bribery and corruption and data protection. Experience of risk governance and ongoing risk management is desirable. You will be self-motivated, keep abreast of the latest industry trends and regulatory requirements for our sector and show curiosity in your work. You will role model competent and ethical behaviours in line with regulatory conduct principles.
We are also looking for:
- A positive and confident self-starter, who understands the importance of maintaining positive client relationships as well as internal collaboration
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written with an ability to work with a variety of stakeholders at any time
- Exceptional attention to detail, demonstrating an organised approach to work; an ability to prioritise and meet timeframes with high quality output
- A commercial approach and natural ability to convey credibility
- A flair for building rapport at a senior level, and display excellent communication/negotiation skills alongside strong problem-solving abilities
- A UK driving licence to meet the need to be able to travel to all Shaw Gibbs offices
- A desire to proactively develop technical knowledge
