The Security Guard is the first point of contact for vehicle traffic for employees, visitors, customers and suppliers attending the Vancouver Drydock. The primary focus is greeting and directing visitors and ensuring appropriate security access has been provided.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 203 East Esplanade, North Vancouver.
What you'll do
Controls the access of personnel, suppliers, customers and other visitors on site ensuring that visitors are properly signed in and out of the premises.
Undertakes regular security patrols of the site ensuring that any security issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
Provides access to stores, tool crib and secured areas to shipyard personnel when required.
Responsible for video CCTV monitoring and audits.
Responsible for fire system monitoring for all buildings.
Responsible for monitoring parking lots, e-ticketing and general parking issues.
Assists the Emergency Response Team.
Deals with management of the yard evacuation list.
Responsible for after-hours phone communications for Vancouver Drydock.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Shifts may occur anytime 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
What you'll bring
Completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent, supplemented by 3-5 years of security industry experience preferably in a shipyard or marine environment.
Completion of Intermediate or Advanced First Aid training is essential.
Must have a valid Driver’s License and a Security Workers License.
Must have Marine Transportation Security Clearance.
Advanced computer skills.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work with a minimal supervision and exercise sound judgement.

The estimated salary for this position is $64,800 - $79,200. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
