Job Overview
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a busy Adult Acute service in Central London on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 or Band 7 clinician looking to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality assessment and intervention for adult inpatients with a range of communication and swallowing disorders.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering evidence-based care across inpatient acute services, supporting patients to achieve the best possible clinical outcomes while working collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Assess, diagnose, and manage adults presenting with communication and swallowing difficulties within an acute inpatient setting.
Deliver evidence-based interventions for patients with a variety of neurological, respiratory, medical, and surgical conditions.
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide person-centred care and contribute to discharge planning.
Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical records in line with HCPC and local service standards.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case discussions, and service development where appropriate.
Provide advice and education to patients, families, carers, and healthcare colleagues.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:
A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
HCPC registration and membership (or eligibility for membership) with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
Previous experience working within an adult acute inpatient setting.
Experience managing dysphagia and communication disorders in adults.
Excellent communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
The ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
