JOB SUMMARY:
Participates in business activities of carrier development team, analyzing customers’ requests, determining competitive pricing, providing quotes, and coordinating relationship between carriers and customers.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedules and coordinates relationships with carriers and customers, negotiating quotes, and following up on shipments.
- Finds and orients new providers/carriers; sets appropriate records and profiles on new providers and carriers in TMS system.
- Communicates closely with carriers and customers, answering inquiries, resolving issues, and analyzing data provided by customer to determine the best logistics option.
- Negotiates competitive rates with carriers, follows up on presented quotes to obtain feedback and close the sale.
- Uses web tools, referrals, or any other source that can provide carrier leads to cover loads requested by customers.
- Enters load information in TMS to assist transportation team coordinating shipment effectively.
- Processes quotes within the allotted time frame to meet established department goals and performance metrics.
- Utilizes web tools and TMS history to research market rates and generate estimates. Quotes new services and helps establishing routes in the new areas.
- Reviews and approves waybills; supports accounting team in investigating discrepancies between provider invoices and the negotiated quotes.
- Participates in the team meetings and departmental training sessions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education, experience, certification):
- High school diploma.
- Two (2) years of experience in logistics, transportation, or closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and
experience. - English-Spanish is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Technical understanding of transportation service procurement.
- Understanding of logistics activities in both, the United States and Mexico.
- Ability to communicate effectively both, orally and in writing.
- Confidence in speaking to new people/clients and making presentations to colleagues and senior management.
- Organizational skills with ability to delegate and multitask.
- Attention to details and accuracy.
- Ability to manage reports and analyze data as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This job operates in a professional office environment with moderate noise level. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
