NICB uses 100% recycled fiber in the manufacturing process in 3 of our 4 paper mills. These 3 mills receive 125 truckloads of Old Corrugated Containers (OCC) on a daily basis. This raw material is converted into 100% recycled liner and medium containerboard. The recycled paper is then sent to packaging plants throughout our local markets. Our largest mill in Catawba, SC is a kraft mill providing ultra high performance liner to our own box plants, trade partners and is available to the broader packaging market both domestically and internationally.
Each of the two California locations has a co-generation power plant that not only provides 100% of the mill’s electrical power needs, but also supplies power to thousands of CA homes and businesses through our partnership with Southern California Edison. In addition, the mills purchase recycled water from the local utilities, and our processes conserve water by recycling it multiple times.
