The Director is responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships with federal, state, tribal, and local government entities and private-sector partners. They will execute intergovernmental strategies to advance NACo's mission and provide executive support to the CEO.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in public administration, political science, or a related field, with a Master's degree preferred. Candidates must have proven experience in building strategic relationships across government and nonprofit sectors and strong leadership skills.
The Director of Intergovernmental Affairs and Partnership Engagement is responsible for helping advance NACo’s mission, serving as a trusted Association representative of county government officials in our nation’s intergovernmental system. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with federal, state, tribal and local government entities, as well as with private-sector partners, nonprofit organizations, and other key stakeholders.
This position requires a deep understanding of intergovernmental relations, public policy, and strategic collaboration. The position focuses on building meaningful intergovernmental and cross-sector partnerships to support the priorities and practices of NACo and America’s counties.
Location and Travel:
This position is based in Washington, D.C., with travel to conferences, meetings, and partner engagements.
Salary Range: $150,000-$160,000 commensurate with experience and available resources
